  • Publication number: 20110111733
Abstract: A system, computer-readable medium system, and method which provide for delivering notifications to a mobile device where the provider has first and second mobile technology types. Initially, a notification is received from a notification sub-system. A first communication of the notification to the mobile device is then attempted via the first technology type. Where the mobile device has the second technology type, an error signal is received that the attempt has failed. Next, a second communication of the notification to the mobile device is attempted via the second technology type. Where the mobile device has the second technology type and receives the notification, a delivery signal that the attempt was successful is received. After the delivery signal is received, logging of the second technology type of the mobile device is made so that thereafter, any new notification is attempted using the logged second technology type.

  • Publication number: 20100019931
Abstract: A method for start-up and/or operation of a communication system composed of at least one multivariable sensor, at least one converter unit and at least one receiving unit, which are connected with one another via a two-wire line. A primary measured value in the form of an analog signal and extra measured values in the form of an encoded digital signal modulated on the analog signal are provided from the multivariable sensor via the two-wire line, wherein only analog signals are received by the receiving unit. The extra measured values are scaled in the multivariable sensor into formatted values by means of a conversion algorithm, wherein at least the formatted values are requested and received by the converter unit, and wherein corresponding analog signals of the extra measured values are produced from the formatted values in the converter unit by a fixedly predetermined, unconfigurable, reconversion algorithm.

  • Patent number: 7450935
Abstract: Apparatus, method and system for notifying a communications-switching center that subsequent communications directed to a wireless number associated with the wireless unit are to be routed to a destination number associated with the wireless unit. In response to a triggering event by the wireless unit through the base unit, the base unit can cause the wireless unit to transmit an SMS message to the communications-switching center. • Patent number: 5740317
Abstract: Source coding digitized audio signals includes providing time or spectral domain sampling values of the digitized audio signal, requantizing the sampling values according their permissible quantizing noise as determined by a coding and requantizing control signal, and multiplexing the control signal and the requantized sampling values into a time multiplex frame depending on the bit rate reduction employed. The coding and requantizing control signal is determined from the sampling values by determining the global masking effect from all relevant maskers which are tonal maskers and noise maskers, and which result from the sampling values, and from a silence audio threshold.

  • Patent number: 5682461
Abstract: In order to transmit or to store digitalized, multi-channel audio signals which are digitally represented by a plurality of spectral subband signals, at an encoder, subband signals of different audio channels but having the same frequency position are combined across channels according to a dynamic control signal. This control signal is derived from several audio channels by an audio signal analysis based on a psycho-acoustic binaural model. At a decoder, the subband signals of several audio channels but having the same frequency position are dissociated across channels according to a control value derived from the dynamic control signal, transmitted or stored therewith.

  • Patent number: 5659660
Abstract: A method of encoding an audio signal for transmission and/or for storage includes changing a digitized audio signal based on a selected signal changing criteria. The changed digitized audio signal is encoded, based at least on an available data rate for transmitting and/or storing the audio signal, for reducing an amount of data associated with the changed, digitized audio signal. The reduced-data audio signal is then evaluated for determining whether a code overload condition exists. If a code overload condition exists, another signal changing criteria is selected. A time behavior and/or a spectral distribution of the digitized audio signal is recursively changed based on the another signal changing criteria before the amount of data associated with the digitized audio signal is reduced so that deterioration of reduced-data audio signal is not perceptible when the coded signal is decoded.
