    Abstract: An artist's easel for supporting a canvas or other workpiece including a carriage having two upright housing masts which each have a longitudinal axis substantially parallel to the other, a slidable outer frame extensibly engaged with the housing masts including a bottom workpiece support for receiving a bottom portion of the workpiece, the outer frame being substantially coplanar with and adapted to slide in a range of motion parallel to the longitudinal axes of the housing masts, a slidable inner frame extensibly engaged with and substantially coplanar to the outer frame and adapted to slide in a range of motion parallel to the range of motion of the outer frame, the inner frame including an adjustable top workpiece support for receiving a top portion of the workpiece, the top workpiece support being slidably mounted to the inner frame and adapted to slide colinear with the range of motion of the inner frame.
