  • Patent number: 10520013
Abstract: A roller may be used to deflect or guide a metal strip to be coated in a metal melt bath. The roller may comprise a steel roller shell and steel bearing journals that are connected to the roller shell and arranged coaxially to each other for a rotary supporting of the roller. Disposed on each bearing journal may be a substantially cylindrical or circular disk-shaped connection portion that is made of steel and that extends radially in a direction of the roller shell. At least one of the connection portions may have at least one through opening that emerges at an end face of the roller shell. Further, a filling made of one or more filling elements that have at least one closed cavity may be arranged in the roller shell. The filling may have a structure that is symmetrical about an axis of rotation of the roller.

  • Publication number: 20180010224
Abstract: A method for applying a metallic protective coating to a surface of a steel product, where another surface is to remain free from the metallic protective coating, may involve applying the metallic protective coating by hot dip coating in a hot dip coating bath. A preliminary coating may be applied to the surface that is to remain free from the metallic protective coating prior to the hot dip coating. The preliminary coating may include SiO2 and may prevent the metallic protective coating from adhering to the intended surface during hot dip coating. Thus one surface of a steel product may be provided with a metallic protective coating, and another surface of the steel product may be kept free from the protective coating, all with a minimum of cost and complexity and with optimized resource economics.

  • Publication number: 20170266922
Abstract: A surface-finished steel sheet, in some examples cold-rolled thin steel sheet, includes a metallic corrosion-resistant layer that may comprise more than 40% by weight aluminum and iron. So that that corrosion-resistant layer has high formability, especially cold formability, and hence significantly improved adhesion on forming, the corrosion-resistant layer may comprises nickel, wherein nickel-containing phases are located at a transition from the corrosion-resistant layer to a base material of the steel sheet. The nickel content of the corrosion resistant layer may be in a range from 5 to 30% by weight. Further, a method for producing a surface-finished steel sheet of this kind is also disclosed. In some examples, a nickel layer may be applied to a steel sheet, preferably cold-rolled thin steel sheet in the form of flat steel product, prior to hot-dip coating the steel sheet with a liquid aluminum melt or with a liquid melt of aluminum-based alloy.

  • Patent number: 9611527
Abstract: A method by which a flat steel product containing 2-35 wt. % of Mn can be provided with a coating of Zn which adheres well by annealing at an annealing temperature Ta of 600-1100° C. for an annealing time of 10-240 s under an annealing atmosphere which has a reducing effect on the FeO present on the flat steel product and an oxidizing effect on the Mn contained in the steel substrate thereby forming a layer of Mn mixed oxide which covers the flat steel product at least in sections and then cooling the flat steel product to a temperature for bath entry and conveying it through a bath of molten Zn saturated within iron at a temperature of 420-520° C., within a dip time of 0.1-10 s.

  • Patent number: 9551046
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for the treatment of a flat steel product, taking place in throughput. The apparatus includes an indirectly heated annealing furnace chamber, a conveyor device for continuously conveying the flat steel product over a conveyor path leading from an entry to an exit of the annealing furnace chamber, and nozzle arrangements for feeding atmosphere gas, which is reactive in relation to the flat steel product, into the annealing furnace chamber. A controlled treatment of the flat steel product includes a first nozzle arrangement, from which a gas jet induces a first gas flow towards the entry of the annealing furnace chamber and sweeping over the surface of flat steel product to be treated. A second nozzle arrangement includes a gas jet which induces a second gas flow directed towards the exit of the annealing furnace chamber and sweeping over the surface of flat steel product.

  • Patent number: 9234253
Abstract: A readily formable flat steel product has a ductile edge layer that is from 10 to 200 ?m thick and has a ductility greater than a ductility of an inner core layer of the flat steel product. The readily formable flat steel product is produced by annealing a flat steel product having a C content of from 0.1 to 0.4% by weight in a continuous furnace. The annealing is carried out under an annealing atmosphere that contains from 0.1 to 25% by vol. of H2 and H2O, with the balance being N2 and technically unavoidable impurities. A dew point is between ?20° C. and +60° C., and a ratio of H2O/H2 is a maximum of 0.957. In the course of the annealing, the flat steel product is heated to a holding temperature of from 600 to 1100° C. and for a holding time of from 10 to 360 seconds.

  • Publication number: 20140342297
Abstract: A nozzle device for a furnace, having a central supply pipe, on which at least one nozzle opening and a feed connection for connecting the nozzle device to a gas supply are provided, the gas supply feeding a gas into the nozzle device flowing through the nozzle device and issuing from the at least one nozzle opening, and also relates to a furnace for heat treating a steel flat product. The nozzle device and the furnace by simple means ensure that the respective heat treatment produces uniform results in an optimum way. This is achieved by the nozzle device having a first section, in which it has a smaller effective nozzle opening cross-section than in a second section which seen in the flow direction of the gas issuing from the respective feed connection and flowing through the nozzle device is arranged further away from the feed connection in question.

  • Publication number: 20130206284
Abstract: A method for producing a steel component with a metallic anti-corrosion coating from a sheet steel product comprising at least 0.4% by weight Mn is disclosed. The sheet steel product is annealed in a continuous furnace under an annealing atmosphere containing up to 25% by volume H2, 0.1% to 10% by volume NH3, H2O, N2, and process-related impurities as the remainder, at a dew point between ?50° C. and ?5° C. at a temperature of 400 to 1100° C. for 5 to 600 s. The annealed sheet steel product has a 5 to 200 ?m thick nitration layer with a particle size finer than the particle size of the inner core layer. Once coated with a metallic protective layer, a blank is separated from the annealed sheet steel product, heated to an austenitising temperature of 780 to 950° C., hot-formed, and cooled so that a hardened structure forms.
