  • Patent number: 8616373
Abstract: A reclosable package for packaging an article is provided with a plastic door component and a separate tray that cooperate to form an article containing cavity. The tray may be manufactured from a paper pulp material, such as molded pulp. The door component and tray may be installed between a pair of panels. The door component may include a door portion and a flange portion joined along a hinge. The flange portion may be sandwiched between the panels to hold the door component in place. The door portion may be movable about the hinge to allow the package to be opened and closed. The door portion may interface with the door panel in a way that resists movement of the door portion between the open position and the closed position. The door portion may include snap elements configured to have an interference fit with the door panel.

  • Publication number: 20130331248
Abstract: The present invention provides a box package having a clamshell with a panel assembly, and a method of manufacturing and using a box package. The clamshell includes a first part and a second part adapted to form a cavity. The first and second parts are movable relative to one another about an operating hinge between an open position and a closed position. A panel assembly covers at least a portion of each of the first and second parts. The clamshell may include more than one manufacturing hinge, and at least one of the manufacturing hinges may divide the first and second parts. The panel assembly may define an access window and at least a portion of the first part may open and close through the access window.

  • Publication number: 20130233751
Abstract: A reclosable blister package for packaging one or more articles is provided with a blister that is capable of being closed against the face of backing so that the blister and the face of the backing can cooperatively form an article containing cavity. The blister includes a cavity portion, a flange, a hinge and a locking protrusion. The backing may include a panel having a blister slot and an interlocking opening. The blister slot may include a flange insertion portion and a hinge seat. The flange may be fitted through the blister slot and secured to the panel to hold the blister in place. The blister may be movable about the hinge to allow the package to be opened and closed. The locking protrusion may be configured to selectively snap-lock with the interlocking opening in the backing to hold the blister in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20120005994
Abstract: A thermoformed clamshell package with a pair of closing flanges and a double-sided adhesive for joining the closing flanges to seal the package. The package includes a carrier flange that carries the double-sided adhesive prior to sealing and a sealing flange that is brought into contact with the double-sided adhesive to seal the package. The package may include a frangible portion in the flange region for gaining access to the contents of the package after it has been sealed without breaking the adhesive seal created by the double-sided adhesive. The carrier flange may include a channel for seating the double-sided adhesive and for denesting adjacent packages when nested together for shipping and/or storage. The package may include one or more display strips disposed in the flange region. The present invention also provides a method for packaging articles in a package with a tamper-evident seal, and a method for manufacturing a package with a tamper-evident seal.
