  • Patent number: 11418549
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for providing IMS level awareness of high latency device are provided. One method, when a UE attaches to EPC, receiving, at a network node, an indication that the UE is a high latency device. The method may also include assigning, to the UE, an IP address selected from a special IP address range that is designated specifically for high latency devices. When the UE performs IMS registration, the method may include determining that the UE is a high latency UE based on the UE's IP address provided with the IMS registration request and assigned during the EPC attach procedure.

  • Patent number: 9749477
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for enforcing time and usage limits are provided. One method includes allocating a usage allowance and time allowance for a group subscription to a network, and receiving a notification when a minimum threshold is reached for either the usage allowance or the time allowance within a certain duration. The method may further include determining a remainder of the usage allowance and a remainder of the time allowance by querying at least one policy and charging enforcement function, and reallocating the usage allowance and the time allowance based on the determined remainder of the usage allowance and the determined remainder of the time allowance.

  • Patent number: 9667481
Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from an identifier that can correlate a user equipment or a packet data network connection with a particular cell. For example, a correlation identifier may be useful to address management of user plane congestion and other use cases. A method can include generating a correlation identifier for a user equipment and/or a packet data network connection. The method also includes the ability to identify the user context information with the same correlation ID in the core network and in the radio access network. The method can also include sending the correlation identifier to a network element.

  • Publication number: 20160142935
Abstract: There are provided measures for improving/enhancing RAN user-plane congestion management. Such measures exemplarily comprise detecting a congestion indication for at least one bearer, which indicates user-plane congestion for the at least one bearer in a radio access network, deciding on activation of application detection for the at least one bearer on the basis of the detested congestion indication, and activating application detection for the at least one bearer upon an activation decision.

  • Publication number: 20150351065
Abstract: An apparatus of a communication network system acquires (S12) location information regarding a current location of a user equipment for a register request of the user equipment requesting registration with a multimedia subsystem of the communication network system, via a home network of the user equipment in the communication network system, and continues (S14) with the requested registration with the multimedia subsystem or denies (S15) the requested registration based on a check (S13) whether or not the current location acquired via the home network is an allowed location.

  • Publication number: 20150223037
Abstract: Informing a number of users about an emergency or other situation of public interest is accomplished using a broadcast service. A specific identifier is used in a paging message for activating broadcast service in terminals. A terminal checks a received paging message with regard to the presence of the specific identifier and when detecting the specific identifier, switches to a broadcast mode for receiving broadcast content. The received broadcast emergency content is notified and/or displayed to the users of the terminals.

  • Patent number: 8203982
Abstract: The present application discloses a system of at least a network element and at least a terminal. The system constituents are configured to provide assistance by the terminal to the network element in terms of access domain selection for at least one of the media channel and the session control channel of an incoming call to the terminal. In this regard, the terminal acquires information about the capabilities of an access network in which the terminal is camping. Upon receiving, at the terminal, an invitation to participate in a call, the terminal analyzes the acquired information about the capabilities of the access network, and optionally or additionally of the IMS network. The terminal responds to the invitation, based on the result of the analyzing, with an indication that indicates a respective access domain to be used for at least one of the media channel and the session control channel of the incoming call.
