  • Publication number: 20060010084
Abstract: An electronic postage marker for printing data on a mail item, the electronic postage marker including: disposable ink jet print means for spraying droplets of ink through an opening in a housing body onto the mail item; displacement means for displacing the print means along the opening; position coding means for determining the position of the print means; processor means including communications means for receiving, in secure manner, the data to be printed, decoder means for decoding the secure data, program memory means, and data memory means; display means for displaying the data to be printed before it is printed on the mail item; and data input means for acting in association with he display means to confirm the commands from the processor means.

  • Publication number: 20030225711
Abstract: A franking module is provided which allows the postal customer to apply unique indicia to an item of mail for authorizing postal transactions. The indicia would not include postage and the franking module would have no capability to store and account for postage. The identification data represented by said indicia would include a customer account number registered at the post office for authorization and billing. The indicia would be read and the postage value would be calculated by a post office processor remote from the franking module. the amount of postage would be debited to the customer's account as the postal item clears the initial processing.

  • Patent number: 6427133
Abstract: For the automatic evaluation of the transmission quality of a voice signal that is transmitted by a digital transmission system (1) frequency components that correspond to a data frame rate (fr) of the digital transmission system (1) are extracted from the received voice signal and analyzed. In order to obtain a measurement value that is independent of signal strength, a standardization with the spectral output values occurring in the middle of the quoted frequencies can be conducted. For comparison purposes, an undistorted voice signal is processed the same way in advance. The measurement values of the transmitted voice signal are placed at a ratio to the reference values and then evaluated, e.g., by a neuronal network (13).

  • Patent number: 6257389
Abstract: The device for examining securities, especially bank notes, includes a transport facility for conveying securities along a transport path and a recognition facility arranged on the transport path. The recognition facility has two integrated optical modules arranged alongside each other for scanning securities in two different wavelength ranges. The optical modules are arranged with their long axes basically parallel to each other, and at the same time slightly tipped toward each other. The optical module extends over an entire breadth of the transport path. It includes several light sources arranged at regular intervals, a larger number of optical imagining elements and several optical detectors, whereby the security is passed by a transparent front panel of the module.
