  • Patent number: 6805619
Abstract: A knife sharpening system for sharpening blade edges of knives. The knife sharpening system includes a base portion having an elongate guide rail having a top surface at a first level, a knife support for maintaining a blade of a knife being sharpened with its blade edge spaced apart by a horizontal distance from the guide rail and for elevating the blade on a plane at a second level which is higher than the top surface of the guide rail. A sharpening implement that is longer than the distance between the guide rail and the blade edge is provided, and placed on the blade's edge and the guide rail, and is moved thereacross to sharpen the knife edge.

  • Publication number: 20030073556
Abstract: A device, method, and special sheet material for making boxes out of solid cardstock, corrugated cardstock, and other sheet materials of various thicknesses. The device is for use with conventional or specialized box making sheet materials and includes a scoring plate with at least one elongate groove therein. The elongate groove has two sharp inner edges where the groove is formed in the scoring plate. A scoring tool that has a working end that is wider than the scoring groove is also provided. The special sheet material has a printed thereon a grid pattern of double or triple marks. Alternately, the sheet material is provided with a grid pattern of pre-scored parallel line sets. The box materials is cut and folded on selected lines of the line sets.

  • Publication number: 20020132715
Abstract: A universal boxmaker with a rectangular flat plate with apertures formed thereon, and a guide rail. The flat plate has a top surface, a front edge, a rear edge, two side edges, and a plurality of spaced apart apertures having a predetermined size. The apertures are formed in the top surface of the flat plate and spaced apart by uniform increments from each other. The guide rail has a bottom surface, a front wall, a rear wall, and a protrusion extending from the bottom surface. The protrusion is sized to detachably engage in the apertures formed in the flat plate. To accommodate the making of telescoping boxes, the distance between a centerline of the protrusion and the front wall, and the centerline of the protrusion and the rear wall are different.

  • Patent number: 6216354
Abstract: A device for forming straight and curved score lines in sheet material. The device has a scoring plate with a top surface with a number of spaced apart curved grooves formed on the top surface thereof. Each of the spaced apart scoring grooves has different radii of curvature. An optional overlay template portion has a number of spaced apart curved slots formed therein. The overlay template portion is adapted to overlay the scoring plate such that the spaced apart curved slots align with the grooves on the scoring plate when placed thereon. A scoring tool with a tip sized to fit into the grooves in the scoring plate and the slots in the optional template overlay portion is provided for scoring the sheet material.

  • Patent number: 5855543
Abstract: A kit for making boxes from paper card stock. The kit has a flat plate with a guide rail with a vertical edge projecting above the surface of the plate parallel to one edge of the plate. A scoring groove traverses the plate parallel to the vertical edge of the guide rail. One or more spacing strips, each having a vertical edge, may be placed between the vertical edge of the guide rail and the scoring groove to vary the depth of the box. The overall size or "footprint" of a box made in accordance with the invention is determined by the distance of the scoring groove from the nearest vertical edge and the size of the blank card stock employed. Two identical sized card stocks are used for each box. A slightly wider spacing strip is used to form the top than the spacing strip used to form the bottom of the box. This also makes the depth of the box bottom slightly greater than the box top.

  • Patent number: 5484373
Abstract: A kit for making boxes from a paper card stock is described. The kit comprises a flat plate having a guide rail with a vertical edge projecting above the surface of the plate parallel to one edge of the plate. The card stock preferably comes in two sizes for each size box, one for the bottom and one for the top. The card stock used for the top is slightly larger than the stock used for the bottom so that the same spacers may be used for scoring folding lines for both the top and the bottom and, at the same time, providing a mating fit therebetween.
