  • Patent number: 11874057
Abstract: A process for the separation of nitrogen from a feed stream containing at least methane and nitrogen, with a methane content between 4 and 12% mol. consists of at least the following steps: separation of the feed stream by means of a rubbery-type membrane to produce a permeate enriched in methane at a pressure greater than 2 bara and a non-permeate which is a nitrogen-enriched residue gas at a pressure greater than 2 bara and processing of the high-pressure residue gas in a cryogenic separation unit to produce a methane rich liquid and a nitrogen-enriched gas wherein the pressure of the membrane permeate is controlled as a function of the nitrogen concentration in the nitrogen-enriched gas.

  • Publication number: 20230375266
Abstract: In a process for the recovery of cold from a methane-rich fluid for the cooling of a flow rich in carbon dioxide, cold is provided to a first heat exchanger for the cooling of the flow by the evaporation of an intermediate fluid by exchange of heat with the methane-rich fluid in order to form at least one condensed intermediate fluid flow at at least one pressure level; at least a part of the intermediate fluid evaporated in a second heat exchanger is condensed at at least one pressure into at least one flow.

  • Publication number: 20230356147
Abstract: In a process for the purification of a gas flow containing NO2, carbon dioxide and nitrogen, the gas flow is purified by adsorption in order to produce a flow enriched in carbon dioxide and in NOx and depleted in nitrogen, the flow enriched in carbon dioxide and in NOx and depleted in nitrogen is treated in a treatment unit in order to form a fluid enriched in NO2 with respect to the treated flow, the fluid enriched in NO2 is sent to a catalytic conversion unit making possible the conversion of at least a portion of the NO2, in the presence of oxygen and also of ammonia or of urea, to give nitrogen and water in order to produce a gas depleted in NO2 with respect to the fluid enriched in NO2, the catalytic conversion unit also being fed with a fluid having nitrogen as main component.

  • Patent number: 10843125
Abstract: With the invention a washing apparatus and a process for the efficient separation and recovery of methanol from waste gases loaded with methanol is proposed, wherein the invention also can be used in an integrated flow chart for the production and processing of methanol. The methanol fractions separated from the waste gases are recovered within the already existing, distillative processing of the crude methanol to pure methanol, so that no separate apparatuses are required for the recovery of the methanol from the loaded scrubber waste waters. The valuable substance methanol is recovered and the impact on the environment is reduced. By particular aspects of the invention the total degree of methanol separation can be adapted according to the locally applicable emission limit values.

  • Publication number: 20200308494
Abstract: A method of separating hydrocarbons containing three or more carbon atoms from an off-gas stream is provided. This method includes separating a light ends stream from a fractionator, thereby producing a stream rich in hydrocarbons containing three or more carbon atoms, and a stream lean in hydrocarbons containing three or more carbon atoms, separating the stream lean in hydrocarbons containing three or more carbon atoms in a membrane unit, thereby producing a permeate stream enriched in hydrocarbons containing three or more carbon atoms and a retentate stream, and separating the stream rich in hydrocarbons containing three or more carbon atoms in one or more separation columns, thereby producing one or more streams selected from the group consisting of a propylene stream, a propane stream, a butane stream, a light cat naptha stream, and a heavy cat naptha stream.
