Patent number: 7660425Abstract: A multiple channel steered spatialized signal is generated from a signal input modified according to respective spatialization gain functions to generate a plurality of audio channels. An echo cancellation signal is applied to a return path using a combined spatialization and echo path estimate. The estimate is derived from the gain functions applied to the respective channels. When the gain functions applied in the respective channels are changed, for instance to represent a different apparent position of the sound source, a new estimate of the echo paths is generated, based on a previous estimate of the echo path and on the new gain functions.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2000Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: British Telecommunications plcInventors: Martin Reed, Malcolm John Hawksford

Publication number: 20090266498Abstract: A heat resistant curtain has a vent typically extending up from a bottom edge. At the vent, flaps of the curtain on either side of the vent have marginal overlaps. To these are stitched elevated temperature resistant hook and loop fastening tapes. These normally keep the vent closed. The curtain is provided with a bottom bar drawn up to close the head box when the curtain is not deployed. When the curtain is deployed, the bottom bar rests on the floor.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 3, 2009Publication date: October 29, 2009Inventors: Andrew Paul Cooper, James Martin Reed

Publication number: 20080306181Abstract: The present invention provides novel antimicrobial polyurethane compositions having excellent mechanical and biocompatibility properties, and methods to prepare them. The antimicrobial polyurethane compositions include a homogenous distribution of silver ions by incorporating this antimicrobial agent into the composition prior to the complete polymerization of the polyurethane. In preferred embodiments, the silver ion is associated with a carrier, such as zirconium phosphate or soluble glass powder. The present invention also includes components made from the antimicrobial polyurethane compositions, such as medical devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2007Publication date: December 11, 2008Inventors: Harold Elbridge Garey, JR., Andrew Martin Reed

Patent number: 7146004Abstract: Communication unit comprising a housing in which at least one transducer is placed, and on which a microphone arm is suspended. The housing also has means, such as an ear hook, for fastening the communication unit to the head of a user. The microphone arm is pivotally connected to the housing by a hinge link, and at an outer area of the housing, so that the microphone arm can be moved between a first position in which it lies up against the housing, and a second position in which it extends away from the housing. The microphone arm has a length, which in the main is less than or of the same order as the greatest extent of the housing, so that in the folded-in state the microphone arm does not project out over the circumference of the housing. The communication unit can be used on both the right and the left side of the head, in that the ear hook (6) can be suspended in two different positions, corresponding to the communication unit being worn on the right or the left ear, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2003Date of Patent: December 5, 2006Assignee: GN Netcom, Inc.Inventors: Martin Reed Bodley, Ian Paul Smith, Stephen R. Lyman, Christian Bjerrum-Niese, Paul Wojciak, Charles L. Pederson

Publication number: 20060251352Abstract: A bearing assembly is provided having a roller bearing with an inner case fitted around the journal portion of an axle. An outer raceway combines with the inner raceway to receive roller elements. A backing ring is centered to the shaft fillet. An annular wear ring is positioned between the inner case and the backing ring. An annular sealant bead or a sealant ring form a seal between the shaft shoulder and the backing ring.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 5, 2005Publication date: November 9, 2006Inventor: Martin Reed

Patent number: 6990209Abstract: A microphone array for providing a focused field of optimum audio reception is disclosed. The array has a series of interconnected microphones spaced within a housing. At a midpoint of the spaced microphones is an illuminated polarized centering marker which gives the user a visual signal that the user is located within the optimum filed of audio reception. The housing can be placed on the top front edge of video monitor and has slideably mounted removable feet, which allow the microphones to be aimed more accurately at the user. The array is foldable along a midpoint, which allow for compact storage. The folding mechanism is a hinge, which has a hollow core, and openings which allow the internal wiring to interconnect two wings of the array without exposing the wires. The wings are held in their longitudinally oriented position by a latching mechanism of pins in one wing which snap fit into capture boots within the other wing.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2002Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: GN Netcom, Inc.Inventors: Martin Reed Bodley, Steve R. Lyman, Ian Paul Smith
