  • Patent number: 5910213
Abstract: A pigmentary material comprises particulate titanium dioxide the particles of which have been treated with a polymeric hindered amine stabiliser. The stabiliser is a polymer having a main chain substantially free of acidic groups and having hindered amine stabilising groups. The stabilising groups comprise at least 35 per cent by weight of the polymer. Preferably, the titanium dioxide particles are also treated with an organic compound such as a polyhydric alcohol, an alkanolamine, a polysiloxane or a fatty acid.

  • Patent number: 5327493
Abstract: Device for detecting and identifying call progress tones on telephone lines. The application discloses a device for converting auditory call progress tones to visual indications and a novel circuit for identifying and distinguishing call progress tones based on their on-off cadence, if any, along with various alternative embodiments including: (1) a device which converts call progress tones to visual indications as for use by the deaf, (2) a device which is programmed to automatically go off-hook at certain times, detect a tone such as a stuttered dial tone indicating a message waiting, and activate a visual indicator, and (3) the use of a capacitor or rechargeable battery which is periodically refreshed by the device automatically going off-hook and which, while the device is on-hook, provides power required by the device.

  • Patent number: 4059101
Abstract: A mass producible therapeutic device for massaging gingival tissue is disclosed. In the body of the device, oppositely oriented arcuate channels are formed comprising respective recesses generally suited to the conformation of the teeth and adjacent structures. The channels are generally defined by respective pairs of substantially parallel thickened longitudinally extending sidewalls connected through a common interior lateral extension. The body of the device is interiorly slotted or channeled for carrying a fluid, such as air, and the material thereof is sufficiently impermanently deformable so that as a user reciprocably chews into the arcuate channels the effects of fluid redistribution within the body and the elastic character thereof cause the thickened longitudinal sidewalls of the device to flex inwardly against the crowns of the user's teeth for frictionally removing plaque therefrom.
