  • Patent number: 9193376
Abstract: A fixing device for an adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle includes a first cam carrier having one or more cams fixedly attached thereto, and at least one further cam carrier having one or more cams fixedly attached thereto. The cam carriers are arranged such as to be rotatable relative to each other about a rotational axis. Upon rotation of the cam carriers relative to each other about the rotational axis, the cam or cams of the first cam carrier interact with the cam or cams of the further cam carrier such as to slide exclusively along each other. The fixing device includes at least one energy-consuming damping device which damps the rotation of the cam carrier in at least one direction of rotation about the rotational axis.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 2012
Date of Patent: November 24, 2015
    Assignee: Thyssenkrupp Presta Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Konstantin Cron, Simon Blaettler, Hieronymus Schnitzer, Martin Rohr

  • Patent number: 8689659
Abstract: A steering column for a motor vehicle includes a first and a second part, which in the event of a vehicle crash can be displaced relative to each other in a displacement direction. At least one absorption element acts between the two parts for absorbing energy during the mutual displacement of the two parts, and at least one shift unit, which includes a shift component that can be shifted between a passive and an active shift position. The amount of the energy absorbed during the mutual displacement of the two parts differs in the passive and the active shift position of the shift component.

  • Patent number: 8443696
Abstract: The invention relates to a steering column for a motor vehicle, having a device for absorbing energy in the case of a crash. Such a steering column should be disclosed which is built in a structurally simple manner, produced with few individual components, and requiring no more space in the radial direction than does a steering column which does not have an energy absorption device.

    Filed: December 13, 2007
Date of Patent: May 21, 2013
    Assignee: ThyssenKrupp Presta AG
