  • Patent number: 9766100
Abstract: A computer implemented method, computer program product and computer system for sensor selection. The computer system can run the computer program to execute the method by dividing a two-dimensional area into cells, wherein the cells are arranged in a grid; receiving a selection trigger for a subset of cells of the grid, wherein at least one cell of the subset has at least one sensor and the at least one cell has a sampling frequency associated; determining a set of constraints for the at least one sensor; selecting the at least one sensor if the at least one sensor complies with the set of constraints; and calculating a sampling frequency of the at least one sensor dependent on the sampling frequency of the at least one cell.

  • Patent number: 9342361
Abstract: For achieving a coordinated and opportunistic actuator control a method for controlling physical actuators in pervasive computing environments is claimed, wherein an entity—actuation space—is provided, the actuation space being configured to manage actuation requests and actuation status information, wherein at least one resource user sends one or more actuation requests to the actuation space that stores the one or more actuation requests, wherein at least one actuator resource controls at least one physical actuator on the basis of one or more of the actuation requests stored in the actuation space, wherein the at least one actuator resource sends actuation status information corresponding to one or more of the actuation requests to the actuation space, and wherein the at least one resource user and the at least one actuator resource share the actuation space. Furthermore, a corresponding system is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8676228
Abstract: For allowing a reliable and fast determination of the position of devices with a high degree of privacy preservation a tracking system for determination of the position of devices within a wireless network is claimed, wherein the tracking system is including a number of tracking stations, each tracking station being adapted for wireless communication with at least one device. The system is characterized by a management unit for control of a tracking activity of the tracking stations. Further, an according method for tracking the position of a device within a wireless network is claimed, preferably for use with the above mentioned tracking system.

  • Patent number: 7434459
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for sensing force information at a plurality of points on a continuous surface, and detecting contextual information about an object on the surface based on the distribution of force on the surface. For example, a plurality of sensors may be included below different points on such a substantially continuous surface, where the sensors are operable to sense force information. Then, a processor connected to the sensors may determine a location of the object relative to the surface, based on the force information from the sensors.

  • Publication number: 20040138849
Abstract: Methods and systems for using a load sensing surface as a pointing device for a computer are described. For example, a plurality of sensors may be used to sense force distribution information at points on a substantially continuous surface, and a pointer manager may be used to map the force distribution information to pointing information for display on a computer screen. In this way, a pointing device for a computer may be integrated with common elements, such as a table.
