  • Patent number: 7111241
Abstract: A method is provided for the visual display of states of network elements of a network to be monitored in a monitoring device, the incoming notifications of a network element being evaluated and, therefrom, the network element being allocated a current state from a population of possible states, the number of uncleared notifications or uncleared notifications having certain criteria of a network element being determined at respective certain time intervals and a current state trend being determined therefrom, all the network elements or selected network elements being displayed as pictorial objects on a display screen and each pictorial object displaying at least the actual state and the state trend of the relevant network element, and also a monitoring device and a program module therefor.

  • Publication number: 20020042847
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for a network management system for the transmission of event information, as well as a discriminator object, a management object, and a managed object for it. According to the method, the managed object sends event information to the management object which determines, on the basis of filter criteria, which of the event information relates to events to be sent to the management object. For this, it is proposed that the management object or a time-controlled control program sends to the discriminator object a first request message for the purpose of querying at least one event status of the managed object, whereupon the discriminator object sends a second request message to the managed object for the purpose of querying its event status.

  • Publication number: 20020042848
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of providing services, in particular in a network management system having an open system architecture, and also to a service object, a request object and a request manager therefor. In the method, at least a first and a second object name are assigned to the service object. The request object transmits to the service object a request message in which the first or the second object name is specified as address information for the service object. The service object provides at least a first or a second service depending on the first or second object name used in the respective request message.
