  • Patent number: 7294502
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for collecting samples of fluids, in particular of body fluids such as saliva, said device comprising an absorbent pad and two housing parts which are connected to the latter in a movable manner and can enclose the absorbent pad. The device permits easy and safe handling when taking a sample and when transferring the sample for testing for an analyte in the sample. The device can also be handled hygienically and safely by persons not trained in taking samples.

  • Patent number: 5307588
Abstract: A netting of cords which are connected to each other by knots or in any other suitable way carries seedlings in the form of sprouted or unsprouted seeds which are confined in and/or otherwise at least partly embedded in and/or simply adhere to the cords. The cords can further carry particles of fertilizer and/or the cords can consist at least in part of decomposable material which then serves as a fertilizer for the seedlings. The netting is spread out over a selected piece of at least partially denuded flat, horizontal or hilly land and is or can be anchored to the ground. The thus applied netting is then watered and/or fertilized or is simply exposed to the elements to promote sprouting and further growth of the seedlings.

  • Patent number: 5020796
Abstract: An expander type exercising apparatus has an elongated stretchable elastic element consisting of one or more coil springs, elastic tubes and/or elastic strands. The elastic element is confined in the median portion of an elongated tube-like envelope the end portions of which are directly or indirectly secured to and extend beyond the respective ends of the elastic element. The end portions of the envelope have looped sections which constitute handles to be grasped by a person wishing to stretch the elastic element by way of the two end portions of the envelope. The sizes of the looped sections are adjustable to thus change the overall length of the apparatus. The envelope consists of filaments which are woven around the elastic element while the latter is maintained in stretched condition.

  • Patent number: 4426908
Abstract: An elastic tension member comprises a jacket surrounding a core, the latter comprising a non-stretchable line in working relation with at least one elastic member. The line may comprise a cord, the terminal portions of the elastic member being fastened to the cord at spaced mounting joints. Tension forces applied to the elastic member are transferred to the non-stretchable line as soon as a predetermined maximum tension load value has been reached. This characteristic contributes to rendering the elastic tension member suited for towing purposes, or as a start-cord for surf boards, or as a tieing device for tieing up goods.
