  • Patent number: 8441973
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for operating a user equipment (UE) for a wireless communication system. A method includes determining, by the UE, whether the UE is in a battery-efficient state; if the UE is not in a battery-efficient state, configuring the UE to transmitting a signaling connection release indicator with a cause value; if the UE is in the battery-efficient state, determining whether the UE is in a high-mobility state; if the UE is in the high-mobility state and is in the battery-efficient state, enabling the UE to transmit the signaling connection release indicator with a cause value; and if the UE is not in the high-mobility state and is in the battery-efficient state, disabling the UE from transmitting the signaling connection release indicator with a cause value.

  • Publication number: 20110080859
Abstract: A method in a network node for providing Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service from the network node to a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system, includes determining a scheduling information for at least one Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) service such that the scheduling information comprises information about transmission of data of the at least one MBMS service for a scheduling period that is later than a current scheduling period. The method also includes transmitting data of the at least one MBMS service and the scheduling information for said at least one MBMS service, the transmission taking place in the current scheduling period and in a plurality of consecutive scheduling periods following the current scheduling period.

  • Publication number: 20030069988
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for in-band signaling of data which conventionally requires a separate packet. In-band signaling allows signaling data to be transferred in the same packet as user data. To transfer signaling data in the same packet as user data the present invention piggybacks the signaling data on the user data packet, thereby eliminating the need for a dedicated packet carrying signaling data. The logical channel field of a payload header of a baseband packet is used to indicate that a payload header extension is present. The payload header extension indicates the length of the signaling data field in the payload data section of the baseband packet. The payload header extension also includes an extended logical channel field which provides the indication that the normal logical channel field would have provided had it not indicated the presence of a payload header extension.

  • Publication number: 20020041592
Abstract: A method and system for communicating delay sensitive data packets over the same link as less sensitive data packets, where the packets are divided into smaller segments prior to the transmission, where each data packet is assigned a priority, and where a high priority data packet may interrupt the transmission of a low priority data packet; a re-assembly scheme for an efficient re-assembly of data packets from the segments at the receiver and schemes for efficient recovery from transmission errors.
