  • Patent number: 8134009
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of secondary nitroxide radicals from their corresponding secondary amines by oxidation with an organic peracid, comprising the steps a) adding to a reaction vessel a secondary amine, optionally together with an organic solvent and in one batch a base selected from the group consisting of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium bicarbonates and alkaline earth metal or ammonium carbonates or mixtures thereof in the form of a solid together with water or as an aqueous slurry; b) dosing a peracid under stirring to the reaction mixture in an amount of 1.0 to 2.5 mol per mol of secondary amine; and c) isolating the organic phase.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 11, 2010
Date of Patent: March 13, 2012
    Assignee: BASF SE

  • Publication number: 20110212864
Abstract: The invention relates to novel (benzo)triazole compositions comprising mixtures of benzotriazoles and N-substituted benzotriazoles in functional liquids, e.g. mineral oil. The mixtures can be prepared from readily obtainable starting materials, such as tolutriazole (TTA), alkyl aldehydes and cycloalkanols. The invention furthermore relates to a process for protecting metals, which are in contact with functional liquids comprising the mixtures.

  • Patent number: 6740694
Abstract: A description is given of an extrusion process for the preparation of a low-dust stabiliser, using a subcooled melt as granulation liquid, as well as of novel amorphous modifications of different stabilisers, including 2,2′-methylenebis(4-[1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl]-6-benzotriazol-2-yl-phenol), and of the &bgr;-crystalline modification of 2-(2-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)-5-chlorobenzotriazole and of the preparation thereof. The novel process affords products which are easy to handle and which are flowable, and the novel modifications have advantages as regards their preparation, processing and their use as stabiliser.
