    Abstract: In a conveying apparatus for castings in a cleaning device, there are tooth-type casting holders which rotate about a horizontal or slightly inclined axis and comprise two gripping parts of which the upper part serves as a tension member for tensioning the casting piece, while the lower stationary gripping part is comprised of two or more supports for the casting that promote the cleaning operation by means of a revolving movement. The supports are positioned at an angle to the axis of rotation and are spaced by substantially equal distances at both sides. These supports hold the casting in a corresponding angular position relative to the axis of rotation. The upper gripping part can comprise one or more pendulously supported beams which, in the tensioning position, transmit tensioning or securing forces to the casting.

The transport unit has a platform-like lower support in the form of a grid to be joined to the supporter by mating parts on the supporter and on the lower support. The mating parts are designed to keep the lower support in a generally horizontal position. The transport unit further is designed for forming a basket with a keeper element on the supporter and the basket is able to be opened and shut.

    Abstract: A machine for the blast cleaning of castings has a drum with a top opening through which abrasive from overhead abrasive throwing wheels is directed onto castings in the drum. The drum is oscillated about its axis through an angle of about 120.degree. and has two floor parts with an angle somewhat less than this between them. Oscillation of the drum makes for tumbling of the casting resting on the floor. The wall of the drum, in addition to the floor parts, has inwardly sloping parts next to the opening. The wall is made up of bars wedge-joined to support rings, sound being absorbed by rubber strips between them and the rings.
