  • Patent number: 4832866
Abstract: Free-flowing, particulate foam inhibitor concentrates, which suffer no loss of activity in admixture with surfactants or strong alkalis, are prepared by compacting a mixture of from 1 to 20% by weight of the foam inhibitor with 80 to 99% by weight of a water-soluble salt or salt mixture optionally containing blending aids and having a pH value in the form of a 1% aqueous solution of from 6 to 9.5 under elevated pressure and subsequently size-reducing the compactate to an average particle size of from 0.1 to 2 mm. The presssure applied to the mixture should not significantly exceed the pressure limit at which no further compaction occurs. In addition, the particle porosity, as measured by mercury porosimetry, should be below 10%. The foam inhibitors used are preferably paraffin hydrocarbons, organopolysiloxanes and mixtures thereof with finely-divided hydrophobic solids, particularly finely-divided silica.

  • Patent number: 4587031
Abstract: A process for the production of tablet form detergent compositions is afforded, comprising:(a) the partial hydration of from 10 to 60 parts by weight of an anhydrous sodium polyphosphate to form from 30 mole percent to less than 80 mole percent of tripolyphosphate hexahydrate;(b) mixing the partial hydrate with from 20 to 70 parts by weight of a powder-form, substantially anhydrous sodium silicate (Na.sub.2 O: SiO.sub.2 =1:1 to 1:4);(c) spraying the mixture with water or an aqueous silicate solution; and(d) granulation by agitation, followed by crystallization, other detergent ingredients optionally being added along with bleaches or enzymes, and adding from 1 to 5% by weight of sodium acetate or from 0.5 to 3% by weight of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate or a mixture thereof as a tableting aid, followed by tableting under a pressure of more than 70 kp/cm.sup.2, leading to mechanically strong, but rapidly dissolving tablet form detergent compositions.

  • Patent number: 4507270
Abstract: Lead and zinc cyanurates are known to be suitable as the active ingredients in corrosion inhibiting coating compositions. The invention provides a simplified method of preparing these compounds by reacting lead or zinc oxide with cyanuric acid in an aqueous paste mixture at a somewhat elevated temperature without requiring the presence of a catalyst while applying a shearing force to said paste mixture.

  • Patent number: 4457858
Abstract: Coated granular bleach activators and a process for their preparation comprising spray drying an aqueous slurry containing 1 to 1.7 parts by weight of water per part of a mixtue of (A) a powdery bleach activator and (B) at least one water soluble cellulose ether, starch, or starch ether in a ratio of A:B of from 99:1 to 90:10. The process utilizes a current of a drying gas having an entrance temperature of 100.degree.-200.degree. C. and an exit temperature of 40.degree.-120.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4419260
Abstract: In the production of a spray-dried detergent containing a silicone/silica mixture as an antifoaming agent, the aqueous silicone-free detergent slurry (A) is combined in the range of the spray nozzle or in the pressure line leading to the spray nozzle under conditions whereby substantial mixing is avoided in order to avoid loss of the antifoaming action, with an aqueous dispersion (B) which contains the liquid antifoaming silicone agent, which is present in a particle size of from 0.5 to 40 .mu.m, as well as a film-forming, high-molecular-weight polymer which is soluble or swellable in water, and which is suitable for the formation of microcapsules, preferably a cellulose ether. The microcapsules are formed during the combination of the mixture (A) with the dispersion (B) at the time of spraying, or in the dispersion itself, if electrolyte salts were added to the latter before spraying.
