  • Publication number: 20200162582
Abstract: Devices and techniques for Information Centric Network (ICN) packet transmission control are described herein. An interest (or data) packet may be received at an ICN router. Here, the packet includes quality of service (QoS) information. For an interest packet, the ICN router creates a pending interest table (PIT) entry for the packet. The ICN router determines that it does not have a route for the packet. Thus, if it is an interest packet, there is no forward route in a forwarding information base (FIB). If it is a data packet, there is no corresponding PIT entry. However, after extracting the QoS information from the packet, the ICN router broadcasts the packet in accordance with the QoS information.

  • Publication number: 20200029302
Abstract: Systems and methods of reducing power consumption associated with paging or cDRX mode are described. A wake-up receiver (WUR) wakes up from an idle mode or cDRX state. Whether a wake-up signal (WUS) has been received by the WUR is determined. The WUS is a low-complexity signal that is less complicated than a PDCCH or PDSCH and is repeated multiple times at resource elements as indicated in a configuration from an eNB. If received, a baseband transceiver wakes up for reception of a PDCCH for the UE in a PO when the UE is in the idle mode or a PDSCH for the UE when the UE is in the cDRX state.

  • Patent number: 10492142
Abstract: Described herein are various wake-up procedures for user equipments (UEs). A UE may include a low power wake-up radio (LP-WUR) separate from a front end module (FEM). The LP-WUR may remain awake continuously (or at high-frequency intervals) and monitor for a wakeup signal, allowing the FEM to remain powered down in the absence of downlink data. When the LP-WUR detects a wakeup signal configured for the LP-WUR, the LP-WUR may be configured to wake up the FEM to receive incoming downlink data. Various network components may be configured to ensure UEs with LP-WURs receive corresponding wake-up signals.

  • Patent number: 10470122
Abstract: Embodiments of wireless communication devices and method for discontinuous reception (DRX) mode in RRC_IDLE state of wireless communication are generally described herein. Some of these embodiments describe a wireless communication device having processing circuitry arranged to determine to use an extended paging discontinuous reception (DRX) value to increase a paging cycle length. The wireless communication device may transmit a non-access stratum (NAS) message to the network, indicating that the wireless communication device desires to use the extended paging DRX value. The wireless communication device may receive a message from the network that includes an information element (IE) indicating whether the network supports the extended paging DRX value. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

  • Publication number: 20190230566
Abstract: Systems and techniques for information centric network (ICN) heterogeneous wireless switching are described herein. A handover event, that includes an indication for a device to switch from a first wireless link to a second wireless link, may be detected. A forwarding interest base (FIB) table may be modified to route interest packets to the second wireless link. Although the device has switched to route new out-going interest packet to the second wireless link, the device accepts data packets on both the first wireless link and the second wireless link.

  • Patent number: 10334642
Abstract: Devices and methods of using a reduced complexity network protocol are generally described. An evolved NodeB (eNB) transmits an Attach Request to a mobility management entity (MME), which transmits a Create Session Request for transmission of non-IP (NIP) data of user equipment (UE) to a Packet Data Network (P-GW). The P-GW in response transmits a Create Session Response, with the UE ID if originating at the P-GW and free from a UE IP address and an Up Link Traffic Flow Template, to the MME, which transmits an Attach Accept to the eNB and UE. A UE identifier (UE ID) either originates at the UE and is transmitted in the Attach Request, or is generated by the eNB, MME or P-GW. The NIP data has a tunneling NIP data packet with a NIP header with the UE ID and a NIP user data packet free from TCP/IP encapsulation and header compression.

  • Publication number: 20190158622
Abstract: System and techniques for information centric network (ICN) implemented content data networks (CDNs) are described herein. A directive to initiate a cache operation for content may be received at a gateway of an ICN. An interest packet may be constructed based on the directive. The interest packet may be transmitted on the ICN and a response to the interest packet received. Here, the response has a payload that corresponds to the content. The payload then may be cached at a local repository of the gateway.
