Patent number: 11941413Abstract: At a managed control plane service, end-user application programming interfaces (APIs) of an application to be implemented at a provider network are determined. A set of common operational requirements of the application, to be fulfilled without obtaining program code for the requirements, are identified. In response to an invocation of an end-user API of the application, computations are performed at a resource selected by the managed control plane service, and one or more tasks to satisfy a common operational requirement are initiated by the managed control plane service.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2020Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Marvin Theimer, Ryan Walter Jason Waite, Atanas Ivanov, Earl Robert Kinney, Jonathan Thompson, Donald Kneath Bushell

Patent number: 4838554Abstract: A toy money box resembling a slot machine has one money slot where the money enters a store and is returned if the slot machine when operated gives a jackpot. The money box has a second slot where money passes to a store separate from the slot machine and acts as a conventional money box. A mechanism for controlling the slot machine is provided which is simpler than previous mechanisms. In one aspect, the chance wheels are rotated by a gear drive which rotates one chance wheel through a one-way clutch and similar one-way clutches between adjacent pairs of chance wheels impart the rotation sequentially to all of the wheels. A clutch mechanism between the operating handle and the gear drive can comprise a pawl rotatably engaged within a cylindrical sleeve, the end of the pawl engaging a opening in the sleeve for transmitting rotary motion from the pawl to the sleeve and a cam being provided to disengage the end of the pawl when a particular extent of rotation has been reached.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1987Date of Patent: June 13, 1989Inventors: James J. Sutter, Marvin Roberts

Patent number: 4350278Abstract: A drive puck for use as a component in a demand drive system is disclosed herein in which a film roller is resiliently centered on a rotating drive shaft so that the tension of a film strip carried thereon selectively causes engagement of the film roller with the drive puck. The puck is secured to the drive shaft so as to rotate therewith and is provided with an external tread which projects into a lateral cavity of the film roller so as to engage with the underside of the film roller in response to the resilient centering movement of the film roller.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1980Date of Patent: September 21, 1982Inventor: Marvin A. Patent number: 4289323Abstract: A wheel for a skating apparatus is operably carried on a truck so as to selectively rotate in a given direction or in both directions. A bearing assembly rotatably mounts the wheel on one end of an axle outwardly projecting from a skate truck. The bearing assembly includes a pair of races between which bearings are rollably disposed. An adjustable bearing assembly is operably coupled between the opposing surfaces of the truck and the inside of the wheel. Bearings in this latter assembly are rollable in a circular cage having the bearing surfaces engagable with a flat raceway carried on the truck wherein the wheel rotates in a first direction when the bearing engages with a circular portion of an eccentric and ceases rotation when the bearing engages with a flattened ramp portion of the eccentric. In an alternate embodiment the first mentioned bearing assembly includes the eccentric raceway on one side of the cage holding the bearings and the flat surface race on the opposite side.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1979Date of Patent: September 15, 1981Inventor: Marvin Roberts

Patent number: 4215827Abstract: An apparatus is described herein which when used in conjunction with a continuous film duplicator or printer, stores and transports micrographic, motion picture, and other masters during the printing cycle to eliminate rewinding when making multiple duplicate copies. The apparatus is modular utilizing a pair of carriages so that it may be expanded either horizontally or vertically to accommodate more footage. A single motor is employed to adjust the spacing between top and bottom roller sets disposed on the carriages for various lengths of film while a three-position sensor arm controls the motor. A slack sensor controls the speed of rollers mounted on shafts on the carriages and a motor drives each shaft controlled by the sensor. Low-mass plastic film rollers equipped with soft-touch rubber surfaces are employed for transporting the film and low inertia PM motors provide high acceleration and torque for driving the shafts.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1979Date of Patent: August 5, 1980Inventors: Marvin A. Roberts, Joseph C. Wary

Patent number: 4092493Abstract: An unknown segment such as a spoken digit in a continuous speech signal is recognized as a previously identified speech segment by deriving a set of test linear prediction characteristic signals from the voiced interval of the unknown segment. The test signals are time aligned to the average voiced interval of repetitions of each of a plurality of identified speech segments for which average reference voiced interval linear prediction characteristic signals were previously generated. The correspondence between the aligned test signals and the reference signals is determined. The unknown speech segment is identified as the reference segment having the closest correspondence with the unknown segment. Features of the invention include: voiced-region parameter signals, and classification and consistency detection; and determining means and variances of voiced-region parameters from a plurality of speakers utilized for the correspondence arrangements.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1976Date of Patent: May 30, 1978Assignee: Bell Telephone Laboratories, IncorporatedInventors: Lawrence Richard Rabiner, Marvin Robert Sambur

Patent number: 4032711Abstract: This speaker recognition system offers improved recognition by comparing the mean and variance of an unknown (test) speaker's Orthogonal Parameter signals versus those of previously-stored known (reference) speakers. The unknown speaker's Orthogonal Parameters represent his hypothesized identity because his original speech linear prediction coefficients are transformed into his set of Orthogonal Parameters using the stored (reference) transformation coefficients of each of the previously-recorded known speakers.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1975Date of Patent: June 28, 1977Assignee: Bell Telephone Laboratories, IncorporatedInventor: Marvin Robert Sambur
