Patent number: 5550333Abstract: A trailerable engine housing 10 for a heat and noise emitting engine 68 is provided, formed of an open topped container having pyramidally shaped end walls 22, 24, side walls 14, 16, and a base plate 42. The open topped container is divided into two separate enclosures by an enclosure baffle 58. A pair of vent panel 28, 30, are held in angled spaced relationship to the pyramidal side edges of the end walls to form an air induction vent hole open to one enclosure and a hot air exhaust hole open to the other. Inducted air is transferred from one enclosure to the other through an enclosure baffle vent hole. Sonic energy may not pass through either the induction air or the hot air exhaust vent holes without first being reflected off a surface within the engine housing.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1995Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Whiteman Industries, Inc.Inventor: Marvin E. Patent number: 5489150Abstract: A motar mixer driven by a hydraulic pump and motor which are powered by an gasoline engine. The mixer frame is configured as a trailer to facilitate transport of the mortar mixer. The trailer frame is further adapted so that the frame members form a fluid reservoir for the hydraulic fluid for the system. A tubular steel frame assembly, is manufactured so that the inner chambers of the frame members are in fluid communication with one another. A reservoir dam is placed inside the horizontal trailer frame member to provide a crush zone for eliminating risk of damage to the reservoir in the event that the weld that secures the front trailer frame member to the horizontal trailer frame member fails or fractures.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1995Date of Patent: February 6, 1996Assignee: Whiteman Industries, Inc.Inventor: Marvin E. Patent number: 4943264Abstract: An automatic variable speed centrifugal clutch with belt tightening assembly is characterized by even transmission of rotational drive to a pair of belts and includes a rotating spindle and clutch plate having an adjustable centrifugally operable belt tightening mechanism. The belt tightening mechanism includes a clutch drum and a spacer which define recesses for receiving the belts to be driven. Slide rails slidably inserted through slide rail holes in the clutch drum and spacer, and connected at their ends to the clutch plate and spindle flange rotationally interlock the clutch assembly yet allow for longitudinal displacement of the clutch drum and spacer means relative to the spindle flange. As the spindle rotates, the clutch drum presses the spacer against a flange of the spindle to evenly drive the belts while compensating for differences in belt size.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1989Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Inventor: Marvin E. Patent number: 4673311Abstract: A concrete finishing machine having a rotatable trowel blade assembly and a mechanism for controllably adjusting the pitch of the trowel blades relative to a wet concrete surface on which the blades rest. Manual pivoting of a control lever controllably adjusts the trowel blade pitch and, in doing so, automatically increases or decreases the amount of blade surface contacting the concrete surface, and correspondingly lowers or raises the machine relative to the surface. The contacting blade surface supports the machine's entire weight. A special counterbalancing apparatus that includes, for example, a compressed coil spring, biases the control lever so as to compensate for the machine's weight and permits an operator to adjust the blade pitch with substantially less force than otherwise would be required.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1985Date of Patent: June 16, 1987Inventor: Marvin E. Whiteman, Jr.

Patent number: 4312603Abstract: A power driven twin trowel cement finishing machine in which two sets of counter rotating troweling blades have intersecting circular trowling area, each set of troweling blades being carried by a rotatable shaft upon which the blades are supported and arranged for remote relative adjustments from a guiding handle of the sets of troweling blades to vary their troweling angle with respect to the associated cement surface. The two sets of troweling blade assemblies have their rotatable shafts supported for relative tilting movements in opposite directions from a normal generally vertical position to selectively oppositely inclined planes of rotation of the sets of troweling blades in a manner to generate reactive blade forces that will be operative to bodily propel the machine either in a forward or reverse direction, while permitting manual lateral controlled movements of the machine by means of the guiding handle.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1980Date of Patent: January 26, 1982Assignee: Whiteman Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Marvin E.
