  • Patent number: 4789759
Abstract: A fitting for establishing a seal between an insulated electrical cable (70) and an electrical junction box, where the junction box wall has a threaded bore and a profiled through-hole having a camming surface and shoulder. The fitting includes a threaded nut (50) and a ferrule (30) which has tines (34) extending from a ring portion. The ferrule (30) and the nut (50) are slid over the insulated cable (70) and the assembly is brought in registry with the threaded bore (8) of the junction box. Screwing the nut (50) and ferrule (30) forwardly causes the tines (34) on the ferrule (30) to contact the camming surface (12), forcing the tines (34) into the insulation (72) and the insulation (72) into the shoulder (16), thereby establishing a sealed connection. In a further improvement, the nut (50) has first and second wrench-engaging portions (100, 101) formed integrally therewith.

  • Patent number: 4654470
Abstract: A raintight electrical junction box is disclosed for use outdoors and includes a base member having a peripheral channel while the cover has a labyrinth profiled to be received in the channel, when the cover is placed over the base member. The mating geometry of the labyrinth and the channel provide a gasketless peripheral seal between the cover and base member.

  • Patent number: 4191064
Abstract: A lever control for an engine transmission and the like having a transverse shaft secured in spaced frame plates and a face plate or cover traversing the outer edges of said spaced plates. A handle lever extends through the face plate and is connected to a control actuator plate rotatable on the shaft, and a detent operable from the handle lever is biased to normally engage selectively in a notched positioning gate mounted on one of said frame plates. An arcuate housing enclosing the gate and detent is mounted on the handle lever extending through the face plate. A preferred embodiment has a visual indicator showing the control positions which is illuminated to be visible day and night.

  • Patent number: 4050327
Abstract: A connector to provide a fast-make coupling by which releasably to interconnect a control device to a push-pull control cable assembly. The control device has at least a sheath member and a plunger movable longitudinally within a passage through the sheath member. A connector housing is substantially permanently secured to the casing of the push-pull control cable assembly and releasably attached to the sheath member so as to be longitudinally aligned with the passageway therein. A shuttle plug, which is secured to the core of the push-pull control cable assembly is slidably received within the connector housing and the passageway in the sheath member to which the connector housing is releasably attached. A lug is presented from the plunger and interacts with a socket in the shuttle plug to effect an interconnection that is readily engaged and released, but only when the connector housing is not attached to the sheath member.
