  • Patent number: 4380499
Abstract: Improved lubricant additive compositions, derived from fatty oils, comprise sulfurized, transesterified triglycerides. Such additive compositions possess improved solubility in oils and impart improved lubrication properties to both lubricant and fuel compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 1981
Date of Patent: April 19, 1983
    Assignee: Ferro Corporation
Inventors: Karl P. Kammann, Jr., Marvin J. Den Herder
  • Patent number: 4380498
Abstract: Improved lubricant additive compositions, derived from fatty oils, comprise triglycerides which have been transesterified with polybasic carboxylic acids prior to sulfurization. Such additive compositions possess improved solubility in oils and impart improved lubrication properties to both lubricant and fuel compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 1981
Date of Patent: April 19, 1983
    Assignee: Ferro Corporation
Inventors: Karl P. Kammann, Jr., Marvin J. Den Herder, Terrence L. Wagner
  • Patent number: 4125471
Abstract: A stable free sulfur containing mineral oil is produced in a two-step process. The first step of the process comprises producing a sulfurized solubilizing oil by reacting a lubricant oil with elemental sulfur until the uncombined sulfur content is less than about 0.5%. The second step comprising dissolving in the oil a quantity of sulfur such that the final concentration of uncombined sulfur is less than 2.0%.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 3, 1977
Date of Patent: November 14, 1978
Assignee: Standard Oil Company a corporation of Indiana
Inventors: Paul C. Vienna, Marvin J. Den Herder, Alex Zletz
  • Patent number: 3981813
Abstract: A hydraulic fluid comprising a major proportion of a hydrocarbon oil having a viscosity of about 10-200 centistokes at 100.degree.F. and a minor proportion of a metal sulfonate, a higher molecular weight alkyl- or alkenyl-succinic acid or anhydride, a lower molecular weight alkyl- or alkenyl-succinic acid or anhydride, a nonionic emulsifier, and a hindered hydrocarbyl phenol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 12, 1975
Date of Patent: September 21, 1976
    Assignee: Standard Oil Company (Indiana)
Inventors: Marvin J. Den Herder, Thomas Martin Warne
