  • Patent number: 4623753
Abstract: A watertight enclosure for use in an outdoor junction box for use in housing electrical connections such as solar panel installations includes a mating base and cover. The base is bounded by an upstanding peripheral wall having a channel profiled in the top. The mating cover has an outwardly facing channel formed by upper and lower peripheral parallel flanges. The lower flange on the cover fits into the channel in the box member and the upper flange overlaps the outer wall leaving a slight gap providing the only opening to the otherwise enclosed duct about the periphery of the assembly. Wires passing through bores in the upstanding wall are sealed by compressing elastomeric spheres which bore into conformity with the wires passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4203646
Abstract: A clip is disclosed for interconnecting planar elements, such as solar cells, and the like, in series. The cells are connected by the clip to electrically interconnect a top circuit of one element to a bottom circuit of an adjacent element. The clips are manufactured from stock which includes a metallic strip with at least one insulating web secured along one surface covering approximately half the area thereof. At least two cantilever beams are stamped from the strip extending toward each end of the clip and lying spaced above a portion of the clip. The first arm presents an insulated surface to an uninsulated portion of the clip while the second arm presents an uninsulated surface to an insulation portion of the clip.

  • Patent number: 4189200
Abstract: A sequentially actuated zero insertion force edge board connector is disclosed for receiving printed circuit boards and the like, the contacts of the connector being sequentially cam actuated for engagement with and disengagement from an edge of the printed circuit board. The subject connector has a housing with an elongated board receiving aperture, an elongated contact drive member lying freely at the bottom of the aperture and a cam member movable between the drive member and the aperature bottom. A plurality of contacts are mounted in spaced apart relationship along at least one elongated wall of the aperture. The contacts have a normal position in which they engage the pads of a printed circuit board and are sequentially moved, in at least two groups, by the drive means to an out of engagement position allowing unhampered insertion and withdrawal of a printed circuit board with respect to the connector.

  • Patent number: 4165909
Abstract: A locking device is disclosed for use in combination with a known rotary cam, zero insertion force edge board connector. The locking device insures that a board will be correctly positioned in the connector before the contacts of the connector can be actuated into engagement with the board and prevents the board from being removed axially once it is in place. The subject locking device is particularly useful in instances of tandem edge board connectors when one of the series is in a relatively remote and/or inaccessible position. The subject locking device rotates with the rotatable cam actuating means of the connector and prevents rotation of the cam unless the board is properly positioned. The locking device can serve either as the driving member for the rotary cam or be rotated by the cam.
