Patent number: 9796051Abstract: A welding method and system (4) using a robotic arm (10), a welding robot (18) and a welding table (2) placed at an angle from horizontal to hold two C-channels (6 and 8) facing each other to maintain position and be welded together. C-channels (6 and 8) face each other to form a closed channel at increased welding speed with less materials having resulting benefits including constant welding, less distortion, and less welding material. Welding begins with restraining C-channels (6 and 8) in conjunction with the angled welding table (2). A robotic arm (10) handles C-channels (6 and 8) to move, place and restrain them relative to each other and the welding table (2). A pressing tool (12) may be a set of pressure-exerting tools (26). A welding robot (18) with a seam finding system (24) preferably welds the restrained C-channels (6 and 8) from top to bottom.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2015Date of Patent: October 24, 2017Assignee: METALSA S.A. DE C.V.Inventors: David Bricker, Marvin Lewis Adams, Juan Villarreal Garcia, Jason Belcher, Troy Fackler

Patent number: 9737963Abstract: A system for positioning and welding a bracket 30 to a mounting surface, such as a vehicle side rail 40, including using a pivoting tool 20 on a moveable arm 10 that allows the bracket 30 to pivot to minimize the gap between the bracket 30 and its intended mounting surface. The pivoting tool 20 secures, positions near the surface, and allows the bracket 30 to pivot for a precise surface match. A welder 50 welds the bracket 30 to the surface with the gap minimized while the bracket 30 is held in the desired position. The pivoting tool 20 is preferably on an adjustable appendage 12 or combination end 60 mounted on a distal end of the arm 10. The flexible tooling does not require the bracket 30 to be forced with substantial pressure against the mounting surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2015Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: METALSA S.A. DE C.V.Inventors: Juan Villarreal Garcia, Jason Belcher, Marvin Lewis Adams

Publication number: 20150239068Abstract: A process and system for measuring, positioning and welding a bracket 30 to a mounting surface, such as a vehicle side rail 40, to accomplish smooth and continuous bracket assembly. A bracket positioning tool 20 on a robotic arm 10 allows brackets 30 to adjust to minimize the gap between the bracket 30 and its intended mounting surface. The bracket positioning tool 20 positions brackets 30 near the surface, and allows brackets 30 to adjust for a precise surface match. With input from a second measurement, a welding robot 50 welds the bracket 30 to the surface with the gap minimized while the bracket 30 is held in position. The measurement system and bracket positioning with flexible tooling do not require the bracket 30 to be forced with pressure against the mounting surface. With robots, brackets can be consistently placed and welded in precise locations on varying mounting surfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2015Publication date: August 27, 2015Applicant: METALSA S.A. Publication number: 20130139435Abstract: An adjustable garden stake having a central stake. A T-structure having a vertical cylinder attached to a horizontal cylinder is disposed around the central stake. A thumbscrew is screwed into the vertical cylinder which is capable of holding the T-structure in a fixed position along the length of the central stake. A retainer ring is disposed about the central stake and is attached to each end of the horizontal cylinder of the T-structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2011Publication date: June 6, 2013Inventors: Marvin Lewis Harrod, Eric Harrod, Cynthia Mulford

Patent number: 5967563Abstract: A quick release for a vacuum cleaner having a nozzle and a wand for providing suction to the nozzle comprises a tubular connector to be received by the nozzle. A resilient latch on the wand is received in an opening in the tubular connector to secure releasably the wand to the tubular connector. A biased sleeve is movable axially along the tubular connector. The sleeve has a cam surface to urge the latch inwardly to an extent to clear the opening against the bias when the sleeve is moved axially to permit the withdrawal of the wand from the tubular connector.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1997Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: WCI Canada, Inc.Inventors: Gerry Lavis, Marvin Lewis, Laurie G. Wilford

Patent number: 4033773Abstract: A colored image in a polymer binder is obtained by polymerization of a mixture comprising (1) at least one polymerizable monomer, (2) a halogen containing activator (free radical source), (3) a binder, and (4) at least one normally bleachable dye, dissolved in such mixture; the polymerization being accomplished by imagewise exposure of said composition to a suitable dose of radiation, and is accompanied by fixing of the dye to the photopolymer. As a consequence, the dyes lose their bleaching characteristic and when the exposed areas are developed with a strong acid such as one which would normally bleach the dye, the dye is bleached from only the unexposed areas. If the developer also includes an aliphatic alcohol, the unexposed areas may be removed, leaving a relief image with color in the raised portions.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1976Date of Patent: July 5, 1977Assignee: Horizons Incorporated, a division of Horizons Research IncorporatedInventors: James Marvin Lewis, Raymond Willis Newyear
