  • Publication number: 20160135357
Abstract: An agricultural planter which provides an improved method for extending and retracting the wing boom and which has improved maneuverability is disclosed. A drive member is provided that drives one or more of the carrier wheels on the agricultural planter. The drive member may be, for example, a hydraulic motor or an electric motor. When a wing boom is extended or retracted between the transport position and the working position, a controller generates a command signal to the drive member to drive one or more of the carrier wheels forward or reverse, thereby assisting the draft links in retracting or extending the telescoping portion of the hitch assembly and in extending or retracting the booms. During operation, the controller may similarly generate a command to the drive member to drive one or more of the carrier wheels either in forward or reverse according to the operation of the towing vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20160106026
Abstract: A row crop planter has a pneumatic system for conveying seeds to individual row units employing three-way splitters above certain master row units for supplying seed to each master row unit and a pair of associated slave row units. Each three-row splitter has an upper inlet chamber of annular shape with an offset inlet coupled to a conveying hose for receiving an air entrained seed flow, and an annular passageway extending downwardly from the inlet chamber to an outlet for delivering seeds to the master unit below. A pair of laterally extending slave outlet conduits extend obliquely upward and each has a jumper hose connecting with an adjacent slave unit. The flow circulating within the annular region allows seeds to fall downwardly and air to spiral upwardly into a supplemental air conduit. An air bypass passageway conveys air flow from the supplemental air conduit toward the slave outlet conduits.

  • Patent number: 9258938
Abstract: An agricultural implement is provided that has a variable placement hinge joint that allows adjacent implement sections to flex relative to each other and can be moved by an actuator to control spacing between adjacent work zones defined by the implement sections. This can be done by detecting relative angle changes between adjacent implement sections and moving the hinge joint to maintain a constant distance between the work zones so that row spacing is substantially constant across the entire implement, even between adjacent ground-engaging tools or other working units of different implement sections.

  • Patent number: 9198344
Abstract: A setup wizard is executable on a controller for a tractor and configured to interact with configuration modules of each implement operable with the tractor. The implements connected to the tractor may be auto detected or manually indicated by an operator. The setup wizard generates an initial series of questions intended to determine the intended use of the implements. The series of questions may be limited to one that requires one of two answers, such as yes/no. Based on the answers to the initial series of questions, the setup wizard may generate still additional questions or begin execution of each of the configuration modules as a function of these answers. The setup wizard may preload settings of an implement, select a portion of the setup screens that need to be reviewed, or provide a visual indication to the operator on the status of each configuration module.
