  • Patent number: 6705676
Abstract: A base for an infant car seat includes a tilt adjustment mechanism that provides multiple vertical locking positions for adjusting the attitude of the attached infant car seat relative to a vehicle seat cushion. The base can have a storage compartment for one or more latch assemblies used to latch the base to the vehicle seat anchorages.

  • Patent number: 6572134
Abstract: A multi-feature stroller (100) includes several unique features. The stroller, which has a forward sub-frame (104) and a rearward sub-frame (108) that is foldable upon itself, provides a napper bar (150) which extends outwardly from the forward sub-frame (104). The napper bar (150) provides a locking mechanism (254) which engages one of two locking tongues (190) extending from an underside of a car seat (160). Accordingly, the car seat (160) may be carried by the stroller (100) in a forward-facing position and a rearward-facing position. The napper bar (150) is moveable between an extended position and a recessed position by actuating a release mechanism (302). A fold down mechanism (130) is connected between the rear sub-frame (108) and the forward sub-frame (104) when actuated causes the sub-frames to fold into a collapsed position and simultaneously causes the napper bar to fall to its recessed position.

  • Patent number: 6454350
Abstract: An infant carrier assembly and a method controlling an infant carrier position use a base and a movable trolley mounted to a vehicle in a rearwardly facing direction. An infant carrier is detachably mounted to the trolley. The trolley is movable so that the carrier is movable between two reclined positions, 58° and 49° from the vertical to the infant carrier seatback. A sacrificial link and springs connect the trolley to the base to limit the movement between the two positions. During a front collision, e.g., when 1 or more G-force is created, the sacrificial link breaks away to release the trolley/carrier from the reclined positions to an upright position, where the carrier seatback can be upright up to about 15% (14°) from the vertical.

  • Patent number: 6082814
Abstract: A reconfigurable chair for use with infants, toddlers and small children. A chair base has a pair of channel members extending forward and aft of the chair base and providing a seat reference plane for a removable seat having a back and a platform. The seat is provided with first and second laterally extending guides engagable with the channels in the chair base. Several seat position detents are provided in each channel. Additional detents are provided above the reference plane at the rear of the chair base to enable the seat to be installed at an angle when used with an infant. When used with a toddler or a small child, the seat can be arranged in either an upright or an inverted mode. An auxiliary tray can be mounted either in a conventional fashion from the front of the chair base or from either side for infant feeding.
