  • Patent number: 5643677
Abstract: A resilient surface covering has a wear layer including a crosslinked aminoplast/polyurethane which is directly adhered to a vinyl support surface. The adhesion between the wear layer and support surface is improved by including at least 20% polyurethane by weight based on the total amount of aminoplast, polyurethane and epoxy resin in the wear layer composition, or by applying the wear layer composition to a gelled, but unfused vinyl support surface by fusing the vinyl support surface and curing the wear layer in a single step.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 1, 1997
    Assignee: Armstrong World Industries, Inc.
Inventors: Joseph P. Feifer, Mary B. Grubb, Claude R. Rupp, Jr., William T. Sigman
  • Patent number: 4855165
Abstract: Resilient surface coverings having improved scratch and stain resistance are disclosed in which a first top layer of a thermally-cured composition of a polyol component, an aminoplast component and an acid catalyst is adhered to a crosslinked or crosslinkable second layer material. A process to prepare such surface coverings is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 1988
Date of Patent: August 8, 1989
    Assignee: Armstrong World Industries, Inc.
