  • Patent number: 8381091
Abstract: The present invention allows a web form submitted by a web user to be routed to an analysis system in real-time. Specifically, once a requested web page has been fully loaded and parsed, any existing submit methods and/or on-submit handlers attached to web forms within the web page are replaced with a new submit method and on-submit handler. When a valid web form is submitted by the user, the destination of the web form is changed to the analysis system, by the new submit method, for a fixed period of time. After the period of time has expired, the original destination is reinstated and the web form is routed thereto.

  • Patent number: 7600020
Abstract: The present invention provides a solution for efficiently tracking web user sessions. Specifically, under the present invention, web user sessions are tracked on an analytics system based upon a unique identifier assigned to a requested web page and a session cookie that identifies a particular web user session. By tracking web user sessions in this manner, web page data transmitted during a particular web user session can be efficiently and accurately correlated for analysis.

  • Patent number: 7562387
Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for gathering click stream information from Web surfers while maintaining their privacy. In accordance with the invention, a Web site that collects click stream information provides an opportunity for visitors to choose not to have personal information gathered about them. If a person chooses not to have personal information gathered, the Web site continues to collect click stream information about the visitor's progress through the Web site as before by the use of cookies and/or URL rewriting, for instance, using Single Pixel technology, in which the client machines are made to send requests to a usage analyzer having cookies bearing the relevant click stream data. However, the cookies include an extra field called a privacy flag. If the visitor chooses not to have personal information gathered, the flag is set. Otherwise it is reset.

  • Patent number: 6973492
Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for detecting page load abandons in real time. Particularly, a page includes code that generates a unique record correlation ID that identifies the particular page that is being loaded and the particular instance of its loading and embeds that ID in two special tags in that page. The first tag is at the top of the page and the second tag is at the bottom of the page. The first tag causes the client to send a request to a Usage Analyzer server including the unique record correlation ID. The Usage Analyzer server receives this request and creates a log entry bearing the ID and sets a page load abandon flag for that log entry. If the page finishes loading, the client machine encounters the second tag. That tag causes the client to send another request to the Usage Analyzer server with the same ID. When the Usage Analyzer server receives this request, it resets the page load abandon flag.
