Inventors: Jerry E. White, Lu Ho Tung, Mary K. Dehnke
  • Patent number: 4594108
Abstract: Thickening compositions are disclosed which impart highly pseudoplastic behavior to aqueous compositions containing same. The compositions of this invention comprise a water-soluble high molecular weight organic polymer and a water-insoluble, water-dispersible and water-swellable organic polymer which is compatible with the water-soluble polymer. Aqueous solutions, suspensions or emulsions containing the thickeners of this invention exhibit very high sensitivity to applied shear.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 1984
Date of Patent: June 10, 1986
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: George K. Greminger, Jr., Mary K. Dehnke
  • Patent number: 4573578
Abstract: Safety packages are prepared for transportation of methanol wherein ethyl cellulose having from about 45 to 46.5 weight percent substitution is employed as a sorbent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 1983
Date of Patent: March 4, 1986
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: George K. Greminger, Jr., Richard H. Hall, Mary K. Dehnke
  • Patent number: 4429120
Abstract: Novel ethyl C.sub.2-4 hydroxyalkylmethylcellulose ethers are disclosed which are soluble in a wide range of organic solvents, generally, thermoplastic and may be prepared having high molecular weights. These cellulose ethers are useful in organic systems as protective colloids, emulsifiers, film formers, thickeners and the like.
