  • Patent number: 11976610
Abstract: A constant density heat exchanger and method of operating are provided. The constant density heat exchanger includes a housing extending between a first end and a second end and defining a chamber having an inlet and an outlet. A first plate is positioned at the first end of the housing and rotatable about an axis of rotation such that the first plate selectively allows a working fluid to flow into the inlet of the chamber. A second plate is positioned at the second end of the housing and rotatable about the axis of rotation such that the second plate selectively allows the working fluid to flow out of the outlet of the chamber. The first plate and the second plate are rotatable about the axis of rotation so as to hold a volume of the working fluid at constant density as a heat source imparts thermal energy thereto.

  • Patent number: 11085915
Abstract: A method for detecting a gaseous substance in a gas-mixture, a first measuring-variable which represents a first chemical and/or physical parameter of the gas-mixture being acquired, at least one second measuring-variable which represents a second chemical and/or physical parameter of the gas-mixture that differs from the first parameter being acquired, and a starting-measuring-instant, corresponding to the starting-instant, of the first parameter is specified when an amount of a time-derivative of the first measuring-variable exceeds a first predefined threshold-value and an amount of a time-derivative of the second measuring-variable exceeds a second predefined threshold-value, and at least one further first measuring-variable is acquired, an end instant is specified when the at least one further first measuring-variable corresponds to the starting measuring-variable, and an output signal is generated when the amount of a difference between the end instant and the starting instant is greater than a predefin

  • Patent number: 9334496
Abstract: A class of antisense agents having a distributed guanidinium peptide nucleic acids (GPNA) backbone which has excellent uptake into mammalian cells, can bind to the target DNA or RNA in a highly sequence specific manner and can resist nucleases and proteases both outside and inside the cell(s) of interest. In one embodiment, either systemic or intratumoral administration of antisense Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (“EGFR”) GPNA oligonucleotides is believed to downmodulate EGFR levels, thus in turn to reduce head and neck squamous cell carcinoma tumor growth, which has been confirmed to date both in vitro and in vivo.

  • Patent number: 8408957
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for tsunami survival shelters. In various embodiments, a tsunami survival shelter comprises a vertical support column designed to withstand forces exerted by anticipated tsunamis and accompanying debris field; a buoyant inflatable survival life raft removably attached near a top portion of the vertical support column and capable of floating free from the vertical support column, and thereby protecting the occupants in the event of failure or overtopping of the support column; and adornments and coloring to allow the vertical support column and survival raft to blend with their surroundings by imitating trees indigenous to the area.

  • Patent number: 8353063
Abstract: A garment worn under a bridal gown in a manner similar to a petticoat having vertical strips of elastic to retract the garment under the gown for photographs. The elasticized hem of the garment can be pulled from under the bottom of the gown to allow the wearer to carry the gown and protect it from being soiled. The garment is provided with a tight fitting waistband that secures around the wearer's waist. A skirt of the garment is somewhat circular with the front somewhat shorter in length than the back. Loops are provided near the hem as a means for holding the hem of the garment when carrying the gown within the garment. An elastic band from the garment's hem can be pulled from the casing as shoulder straps for carrying the gown hands-free.
