A sensor is integrally mounted to the discharge surface of the housing and is operable to detect either the presence or absence of an individual within the spray pattern of water. A valve is disposed within the housing and is operable to control the water volume exiting the housing. The showerhead being operable to discharge substantially all of the water volume available thereto upon the detection of an individual within the spray pattern and further being operable to discharge a water volume that is less than the water volume available thereto to upon detection of an absence of an individual within the spray pattern.
