  • Patent number: 4565904
Abstract: In-the-ear type hearing aid devices having means for receiving and amplifying sound external to the ear are improved by the addition of a handle which aids in the removal of the device from an ear. The handle includes an elongated member which is preferably hingedly mounted to the faceplate portion of the hearing aid device. The free end of the elongated member is enlarged and may be grasped by a hand to facilitate removal of the device from an ear. Preferably, the device includes cooperating detent members which normally holds the handle in a closed, minimally projecting configuration.

  • Patent number: 4375016
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a vent adapter for an ear tip coupling for use with a modular "In The Ear" hearing aid. The ear tip has a bulbous distal tip portion with a sound delivering aperture and a plurality of vent apertures therein. In the assembly, the sound aperture of the ear tip is connected to a sound tube which is part of an adapter which seals the upper portion of the tip. The sound tube projects through the adapter and a separate vent tube also projects through the adapter to provide venting from the other apertures through the ear tip coupler and the vent tube. The vented ear tip and vent adapter can be formed in a number of alternative configurations for varying situations.

  • Patent number: 3934100
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to an elongated and tapered, bulb-like hollow housing which is constructed and arranged to fit in the outer ear of the wearer having a plurality of openings formed therein circumferentially disposed to define rib portions which are substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing. The tapered end has a small opening formed therein which by comparison is substantially smaller in diameter than that of the bulb-like hollow housing. A flexible conduit which has one end adapted to fit a sound transmitting device, such as a hearing aid or other acoustical device has the other end extending through the hollow housing into the small opening in an acoustic coupling relationship. An end cap in the form of a disc may be secured in the larger open end of the tapered cylindrical housing to receive the flexible conduit and may also be formed with a number of apertures therein. Two discs may also be used to control the size of the openings by using a side-by-side arrangement.
