  • Patent number: 5300355
Abstract: In order to provide a damping material exhibiting an excellent vibration damping property in a wide temperature range, according to the present invention, in a magnetic composite type damping material constructed by bonding an adhesive elastic sheet containing magnetic powder to a constraining plate such as a metal plate by using an adhesive, the adhesive elastic sheet is made of a composite material consisting of rubber elastomer, adhesive resin, plasticizer, magnetic powder, etc.Since not only is the damping material having a construction described above attracted by magnetic force against a vibration source, it also is provided with a superficial adhesiveness, and the excellent vibration damping property is exhibited in a wide temperature range by a synergistic effect of the magnetic force and the adhering force.

  • Patent number: 5231554
Abstract: A floating magnetic head having a magnetic head core incorporated in a non-magnetic slider of a cubic configuration. The core is disposed perpendicular to the plane of a magnetic disk. The core is bonded by glass to the slider at one side of the core facing the magnetic disk, and also is bonded by a resin or bonding material to the slider at the other side of the core remote from the magnetic disk. A resin or an adhesive tape is applied to the back surface of the slider, supported by a support member, at a predetermined ratio of the resin or the adhesive tape to the area of the back surface. It is effective to bond the support member to the back surface of the slider by adhesives applied to that portion of the back surface greater than the point of bonding between the support member and the back surface.

  • Patent number: 5004650
Abstract: A rubber-coated gasket material has a rubber layer formed on one or both sides of a metal sheet. The rubber layer has incorporated therein a nitrile rubber containing a carboxyl group in such an amount that the proportion of a carboxylic monomer as calculated in term as of a monomer content in the rubber component is in the range of 2-15 wt. %. The rubber layer is formed in a thickness of 10-300 .mu.m per side, and bonded to a metal sheet with a primer layer based on a phenolic resin being interposed between the rubber layer and the metal sheet.

  • Patent number: 4956226
Abstract: A rubber-coated gasket and method of forming the same is provided wherein a rubber layer is formed on one or both sides of the metal sheet, the rubber layer being formed of nitrile rubber containing a flaky filler and/or an alkyl titanate. The rubber layer which preferably has a thickness of 10-300 micrometers is bonded with a primer based on phenolic resin to the metal sheet. The additives and the rubber render it difficult for anti-freeze to penetrate through the rubber layer. In addition, the phenolic resin in the primer forms an antifreeze-resistant network structure which maintains the integrity of adhesion between the metal substrate and the rubber layer even if the gasket is submerged in hot anti-freeze.

  • Patent number: 4642719
Abstract: A magnetic head assembly has, at least, a recording/reproducing magnetic head made of an Mn-Zn ferrite, a first reinforcer made of a non-magnetic ceramic material and bonded by a glass to the recording/reproducing magnetic head in parallel with the gap formed in the recording/reproducing magnetic head, erasing magnetic heads attached to both sides of the first reinforcer so as to limit the recording width of the recording/reproducing magnetic head, and second reinforcers made of a non-magnetic ceramic material and bonded in parallel to gaps in the erasing magnetic heads, the second reinforcers being positioned at both sides of said recording/reproducing magnetic head. The area Af defined by the thermal expansion coefficient curve of the Mn-Zn ferrite in the temperature range between the normal room temperature and the softening point of the bonding glass and the area Ac defined by the thermal expansion coefficient curve of the first reinforcer in the same temperature range satisfy the following condition:-3.

  • Patent number: 4629199
Abstract: A gasket including a sheet having a composition of 40 to 80% by weight of thin flakes of expanded vermiculite, 1 to 30% by weight of fibers, 5 to 40% by weight of fine filling grains, and appropriate amounts of a binding agent and a vulcanizing agent. The sheet also has a metal plate laminated thereto. A vortex gasket may be formed by spirally winding a metal hoop together with a filling material, which is composed primarily of expanded vermiculite.

  • Patent number: 4508777
Abstract: A compressed non-asbestos sheet which comprises at least two types of fibers selected from the groups consisting of inorganic fibers other than asbestos and/or organic fibers, natural rubber and/or synthetic rubber, rubber chemicals, and fillers. The group of inorganic fibers is divided into two subgroups, one subgroup consisting of glass fibers, ceramic fibers, etc., and the other subgroup consisting of carbon and metal fibers. The group of organic fibers consists of synthesized and naturally occurring polymeric fibers including polyamide-based fibers, etc. The compressed non-asbestos sheet includes at least one of the combinations of the first and second subgroups, the first subgroup and the group of organic fibers, the second subgroup and the group of organic fibers, the fibers belonging to the second subgroup, and the organic fibers.

  • Patent number: 4485138
Abstract: A milled blend is prepared, which comprises extremely short fibers and rubber as well as a suitable amount of long fibers having hair root-like branches or a number of whiskers and/or bent long fibers and, optionally, a suitable amount of fillers. The milled blend is then laminated under pressure on both sides of a hooked, corrugated or embossed thin metal sheet, and vulcanized in a suitable manner. The resulting sheet gasket excels in sealing properties, heat resistance and durability.
