Abstract: An exposure-condition setting device for a camera includes an Xv dial for setting an exposure compensation value, having a plurality of exposure compensation value indicia, the exposure compensation value indicia representing exposure compensation values; and an AEB dial provided coaxial to the Xv dial and relatively rotatable thereto, for setting an automatic exposure bracketing mode having at least one pair of range marks in the circumferential direction thereof, the pair of range marks representing an exposure compensation range in the automatic exposure bracketing mode when the automatic exposure bracketing mode is set by the AEB dial. An interval of the pair of range marks in the circumferential direction is determined so that the pair of range marks registers with a pair of exposure compensation value indicia on the Xv dial so as to indicate the exposure compensation range for the automatic exposure mode.

Abstract: A camera wherein exposure parameters fixed by a program line can be shifted along an exposure value EV line so that exposure parameters for an exposure operation are based on the shifted program line according to the preference of the camera user.The camera has setting means for temporarily changing these exposure parameters at a constant exposure value with respect to the values predetermined by a program line. A counting means counts the number of times that a shutter is released while the program line is shifted in one direction and control means stores the changed values for shifting the program line under certain conditions. In this way a learning function is provided to learn the aforementioned tendency of the user.

Abstract: A dial rotatably mounted on a camera is provided with at least two kinds of information, corresponding to variable settings, functions, or modes. The dial may be rotated to set one of the kinds of information at a time, when an index mark points to symbols on the dial representative of individual settings or of a setting change mode to be performed in combination with other operating members provided to the camera. An LCD provided on the camera displays changes in the information in response to the rotation of the dial. The dial can have the kinds of information provided to the dial in adjacent angular ranges, or alternatively in concentric form, the kinds of information switchable by an additional member.

Abstract: An information setting and displaying device for a camera, has a ring-like rotary dial rotatably mounted in an adjustable manner on a camera body. A display member includes at least a pair of display sub-areas arranged inside the rotary dial and successively along an inner periphery of the rotary dial. An information setting mechanism changes information in a predetermined order responsive to rotation of the dial. A display control mechanism displays current set information in one of the display sub-areas, and displays proposed information, to be set as the rotary dial rotates, in the direction from the current display sub-area toward another display sub-area.

A display control mechanism displays current set information in one of the display sub-areas and displays a proposed information, to be set as the rotary dial rotates in a direction from one of the display sub-area toward the other display sub-area by at least one step. The proposed information is displayed in the other display sub-area. The information includes at least one of a shutter speed, a diaphragm stop, and an exposure compensation value.

Abstract: A camera having a built-in strobe includes a strobe device which moves between a retracted position and a light emitting position. A pivot device supports the strobe device. A moving device moves the strobe device from the retracted position to the light emitting position. A locking device locks the strobe device when the strobe device is at the retracted position. A locking release device is positioned in a vicinity of one end of the pivot device along an extended axis of the pivot device. When the locking release device is moved towards the pivot device along the extended axis of the pivot device the strobe device is unlocked.
