  • Publication number: 20060023590
Abstract: An optical disc recording and reproducing apparatus are provided in which even if a focusing error signal fluctuates suddenly by surface deflection or an obstacle such as scratch or dust on the surface of an optical disc, an effective recording laser power does not decrease but proper recording, erasure, and reproduction can be executed. An ordinary laser power for recording and a laser power for defocus, that is, a laser power larger than the ordinary recording laser power by a predetermined magnification are preset into a laser driver. In the normal case where a focusing error lies within a predetermined range, the former laser power is used. When the focusing error exceeds the predetermined range and the effective laser power is decreased by the defocus, the latter laser power is used.

  • Publication number: 20050157173
Abstract: When a target area is monitored by way of panoramic images of the area that are generated by shooting the target area, sequentially shifting the shooting direction, a unit image of a generated panoramic image and a corresponding unit image of another panoramic image generated before the first panoramic image are compared and the change, if any, in the luminance level is detected. Then, the detected difference of luminance level is compared with a predetermined threshold value and predetermined information is displayed on the display screen along with the generated panoramic image. It is possible to define small regions in the area for which a large threshold is predetermined and/or small regions in the area for which no such comparison is made on a unit image basis.

  • Publication number: 20050100087
Abstract: Positional and elevation data obtained from a camera unit is correlated with coordinates in an entire image display portion, used as a GUI having positional information to select a specified image with a mouse. Which frame this corresponds to in the entire image is calculated, and further, the position within the clicked frame is calculated. The calculated positional information is converted into positional information and elevation data of the frame. The camera unit is controlled with the positional information and elevation data from the camera unit, and an image of a range indicated by a specified image display frame superimposed on the display portion is taken, and stored and/or displayed. This allows confirmation an image of a range to be photographed beforehand, and the user can tell the relation between the range capable of acquiring images and the photography range at a glance, so desired portions can be continuously monitored.

  • Publication number: 20050088940
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an information recording and reproducing technique capable of improving the reliability of information recorded on a recording medium. A recording condition comprising amplitude information and the ratio of the amplitude to the recording power is previously recorded on the recording medium. Using this previously recorded information, information is recorded and then immediately reproduced to calculate the optimum recording power from the amplitude information obtained from the reproduced signal. By adapting the recording condition accordingly, it is possible to secure reliability of information in performance.

  • Publication number: 20040223434
Abstract: Recording parameters are decided so that the time control information on at least the front edge and the rear edge of a parameter forming a mark of twice size or above of the laser spot diameter focused on the recording medium is substantially proportional to the recording linear velocity. The mark is recorded and reproduced at a predetermined linear velocity to obtain an electric signal waveform having a time width Tm. A parameter is decided so as to control the laser pulse for recording information so that a voltage value change amount at two points at a distance Ts (Ts<Tm/2) in the time axis direction before and after the time position Tm/2 from the front edge of the waveform is substantially constant for the recording linear velocity change. Identification information indicating the parameter is described on the recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20040145993
Abstract: In a writing system in which the linear velocity changes during a write operation, it is difficult to determine the writing waveform parameters for all possible speeds through test write operation. Therefore, some representative values must be used to estimate them. This means that it is necessary to enhance the accuracy of this estimation process. The present invention determines a condition for a high speed and an optimum write condition for a low speed through test write operation and obtains a condition for a middle speed based on a recommended value written on the disk. Especially, the present invention can waveform-convert the waveform parameter for a multi-pulse portion of a multi-pulse writing waveform without changing its energy to produce an accurate waveform parameter.

  • Publication number: 20040027453
Abstract: A coverage area picture imaging a maximum area is displayed on a coverage area picture display. A camera is moved within a predetermined range and a plurality of frames obtained as a result form a picture. The pixels of the picture is decimated in vertical and horizontal directions and form a thumbnail as the coverage area picture. The coverage area picture display presents a display indicating a direction in which the camera is currently directed for picture photographing. In accordance with the display, a photographing direction is controlled. A plurality of frames are photographed with respect to a designated position, then stored, and displayed. A whole picture display presents a whole panorama picture. A selective picture display presents a frame at the position designated within the whole panorama picture as a selected picture.

  • Publication number: 20040017470
Abstract: A camera includes a lens unit and an imaging unit. The optical axis of the camera is defined as a reference line, and a central line of a shooting area including an object to be shot is defined as an imaging centerline. A shift lens is moved to a shift-lens position which corresponds to the count of pulses supplied to a servomotor of a pan/tilter, so that an object image travels along an optical path generated by the shift lens is incident on another lens, and is then incident on the imaging unit. Accordingly, the object image incident on the imaging unit does not change while the shift lens is moved.
