  • Publication number: 20050099705
Abstract: Disclosed is a front-viewing system for vehicles with high performance and low fabricating costs, by which a driver can indirectly view a region below a lower limit line, the lower limit line denoting a lower limit of an area which the driver can view in the forward direction, and which does not obstacle driver's view obtained directly through a front window when being un-necessary. Further, the front-view system is placed between an eye point of a driver and a front end of the vehicle, and includes a wedge prism which is positioned above the blind spot and which refracts rays traveling from the front end of the vehicle toward the eye point of the driver.

Abstract: A heat exchange wall include a base plate; a plurality of first protrusions distributedly provided on a surface of the base plate, and a plurality of second protrusions distributedly provided on the base plate surface. The height of the second protrusion in a normal direction of the base plate is desirably less than ½ of a height of the first protrusion in the normal direction. The height of the second protrusion in the normal direction is desirably between {fraction (1/20)} and ¼ of the height of the first protrusion in the normal direction. • Publication number: 20040236742
Abstract: In a clustering apparatus comprising an input unit (1) supplied with a dataset including a plurality of samples, a data processing unit (4) for processing the samples to classify each sample into a class, and an output unit (3) for producing a processing result representative of classification, a parameter memory (51) in a memory unit (5) memorizes a target parameter obtained from past experiment. A parameter estimating section (24) of the data processing unit estimates a clustering parameter by the use of the target parameter memorized in the parameter memory. An unidentifiable sample detecting section (25) of the data processing unit detects a sample as an unidentifiable sample if posterior probabilities calculated for the sample by a probability density function produced by the clustering parameter estimated by the parameter estimating section are smaller than a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 6808277
Abstract: The present invention provides an inner mirror with a built-in antenna in which an antenna angle remains unchanged regardless of adjustment of a mirror angle. The upper end of a stay 10 is mounted on a ceiling in a vehicle room. A pivot 14 is formed at the lower end of the stay 10. The pivot 14 is inserted into a mirror body 16 and fitted into a pivot supporting pmember 20 to support the mirror body 16 pivotally in three-dimensional directions. An antenna 34 is mounted on one side of the pivot 14 through shafts 28 and 30. Since the antenna 34 is mounted on the pivot 14, the angle of the antenna 34 remains unchanged, even though the mirror angle adjustment is performed by pivoting the mirror body 16.

  • Publication number: 20040171281
Abstract: A door mirror 5 as a vehicle exterior component is fixed by three bolt-nut pairs 1-3 to a mount 4A of a vehicle body 4, and secure electric connection is established via the bolt-nut pairs 1-3 between an ignition switch circuit in the vehicle body and electric parts, such as a driving motor, a mirror angle adjustment circuit and a mirror retracting/deploying operation circuit, incorporated in the door mirror 5. Thus, a defect in electric connectivity (e.g., a break and a short circuit) to the electric part can be prevented, and the number of assembly steps, and thus man-hours for assembly, of the vehicle exterior component can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6442927
Abstract: A combined cycle power plant has a gas turbine and an exhaust heat recovery boiler to which exhaust gas from the gas turbine is supplied. The exhaust heat recovery boiler is configured to generate steam for cooling. The combined cycle power plant has several elements: a cooling steam supply pipe; a cooling steam recovery pipe; and a cooling steam connecting pipe. The cooling steam connecting pipe has a cross-sectional area larger than cross-sectional areas of the cooling steam supply pipe and the cooling steam recovery pipe so that a pressure drop thereacross, as a whole, is small.

  • Patent number: 6290462
Abstract: A gas turbine cooled blade is constructed without an increase in the number of parts or time requirements, in which seal air is maintained at a lower temperature with the heat exchange rate being suppressed, and the heat transfer rate of the cooling medium in cooling passage is enhanced. A plurality of cooling passages (A, B, C, D, E) is provided in a blade, and the first row cooling passage (A) is covered at the blade inner and outer peripheries and communicates with the second row cooling passage (B) through communication holes (6) and with the main flow gas path through film cooling holes (7). The second row cooling passage (B) communicates with the blade inner peripheral cavity (10) to form a seal air supply passage. A plurality of ribs (31) are disposed on the inner wall of cooling passage (22) with a predetermined pitch (P).

  • Patent number: 6257830
Abstract: In a steam cooling system proposed heretofore, high-pressure steam is supplied into an internal space of a blade for effecting cooling thereof with the high-pressure steam to thereby recover heat energy. This system however suffers from problems concerning the strength of the blade and the like. The present invention solves these problems and provides a gas-turbine blade which does not suffer from problems concerning the strength thereof nor problems concerning the flow of high-pressure steam. To this end, a coolant flow passage is formed within the blade extending in the longitudinal direction of the blade, and reinforcing ribs which interconnects a dorsal wall and a ventral wall of the blade is disposed within the coolant flow passage so as to extend in the flow direction of the coolant. Hence, the strength of the blade can be ensured without any obstacle to the flow of the coolant.

  • Patent number: 5954475
Abstract: A gas turbine stationary blade, having a simple structure in which sufficient cooling is achieved and the drop in pressure of cooling vapor is decreased so that the turbine efficiency is prevented from lowering. The shape of a vapor passage is simplified to prevent the drop in pressure because an outer shroud (3) of the stationary blade and a blade unit (2) are cooled with vapor, while an inner shroud (4) is cooled with the air supplied from another system.

  • Patent number: 5592999
Abstract: A shock absorber link mechanism linking a rear shock absorber to a swing arm of a motorcycle is capable of varying the suspension height and the height of a vehicle. The shock absorber link mechanism includes a first link arm pivotally attached to the frame, a second link arm pivotally attached to a swing arm, a shock absorber link arm pivotally attached to the shock absorber, and an arm connecting shaft. A motor driven actuator varies the link ratio (height) and link form (load characteristic) of the shock absorber link mechanism by rotating the shock absorber link arm via a motion transmission member, pulley, sectoral gear and arm connecting shaft. Further, a sub-wire driven by the actuator compresses the shock absorber when the suspension is lowered.

  • Patent number: 5561359
Abstract: Concentration of hydrogen gas generated during a process of electrically recharging a battery of an electric vehicle is maintained by discharging the hydrogen gas during the process. An electric fan is installed inside a control unit box for accommodating a motor, an electric recharger and a control apparatus. The electric fan communicates ambient air to a motor through ducts. The air is further communicated to batteries through a duct and a nozzle member. Air directed by the electric fan during operation of the electric vehicle cools the motor driver and the motor. On the other hand, air communicated by the electric fan during a process of electrically recharging the batteries cools the electric recharger and then flows from the nozzle member to the batteries, blowing off hydrogen gas generated by the batteries during the electrical recharging process.
