  • Patent number: 7343178
Abstract: An operator presses an e-mail mode selecting key, and a control unit shifts an e-mail mode from a standby mode. A display device displays a menu selecting screen of an e-mail and the operator thereafter creates the e-mail while viewing a display screen. The operator presses a mode switching key to refer to the content of a predetermined homepage, and the control unit shifts to a browser mode from the e-mail mode in which the display device displays a menu selecting screen of a browser and the operator browses the homepage after inputting a corresponding URL. The operator presses the mode switching key in the browser mode and the control unit shifts, from the browser mode, to the e-mail mode in which the display device returns to the screen for creating the e-mail. The operator continuously creates the e-mail.

  • Patent number: 7181250
Abstract: A mobile phone of the present invention has a structure in which a second case is provided with a sub-display unit and an LED for indicating an incoming call, both of which can be watched even in a state where the mobile phone is folded. The sub-display unit is provided on a back surface opposite to a main surface on which a main display unit is provided. Moreover, the mobile phone of the present invention is provided with a sub-operation unit on a side surface of a first case. The sub-operation unit is provided with a first operation key, a second operation key, and a third operation key. Correspondingly to these keys, a short cut function is registered in a storage unit for setting a useful function (for example, a ring tone, an LED for indicating an incoming call, or the like) for a case in which a change is made in a state where the mobile phone is folded.

  • Patent number: 6587033
Abstract: An individual selective call receiver with a display function, include a display unit displaying a data, a storage unit storing a priority display specifying data and a processor. The processor searches the message for the priority display specifying data in response to a priority display start instruction. When the priority display specifying data is searched, the processor controls the display unit to display the message such that a priority message portion of the message is displayed at a head portion of a screen of the display unit, the priority message portion including the priority display specifying data.

  • Patent number: 6507274
Abstract: A data display radio pager of the present invention receives a paging signal including an address number and a message following the address number. If the address number is identical with an address number assigned to the pager, a CPU (Central Processing Unit) writes the message in a RAM (Random Access Memory) while displaying it on an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). When the user of the pager operates a read switch, the CPU accesses the RAM to display the message stored therein on the LCD. If a receipt interrupt occurs when the CPU is reading the message out of the RAM, the CPU displays both the message stored and an incoming message on the LCD.

  • Patent number: 6075998
Abstract: In a communication apparatus which announces reception of a call by a melody sound, a memory preliminarily memorizes musical tone information data representing tone names of a number of musical tones and tone name frequencies of the tone names, respectively, and preliminarily memorizes musical note information data representing a number of musical notes and time values of the number of musical notes, respectively. The apparatus includes a radio signal processing part for receiving and processing a radio signal sent by a caller which includes a sequence of information pairs, each information pair including one of the number of musical tone information data and one of the number of musical note information data. A producing part produces a musical tone pattern signal having a sequence of frequency-time value pairs by reading, from memory, each frequency-time value pair. The musical tone pattern signal is for use in deciding the melody in response to a recognized call.

  • Patent number: 6069874
Abstract: In a communication apparatus comprising a receiving section (102, 103, 104) for receiving message data transmitted from a base station as received message data, and a detection section (105) for detecting a transmission number in the received message data to produce a current transmission number, a determining section (106, 107, 108, 109) compares the current transmission number with a previous transmission number to determine whether or not a difference between the current transmission number and the previous transmission number is not less than two and is not more than a predetermined number which is not less than three. When the difference is not less than two and is not more than the predetermined number, an alert section (110) alerts transmission number omission. The predetermined number may be equal to nine when the transmission number is represented by 0 to 31 in decimal.

  • Patent number: 5570421
Abstract: A drive frequency control method and apparatus for use in a radio receiver, such as a paging unit. The paging unit includes an LED for informing a user of an incoming call, and a drive frequency controller coupled to the LED for controlling the luminance of the LED by supplying a certain amount of electric current to the LED. The luminance of the LED is based on the amount of ambient light detected by an illumination detector. The detected illuminance information is sent to a CPU, which controls the drive frequency generator accordingly. The drive frequency generator generates a drive signal which is provided via an amplifier to an on-off switching transistor. The transistor, in turn, controls the amount of electric current that is supplied through a storage/discharge device and the LED, thereby controlling the luminance of the LED.

  • Patent number: 5422635
Abstract: A paging receiver that reports to a person carrying the receiver responsive to the reception of paging calls, the report being made by driving at least one of a plurality of alerting devices. The alert is given when paging calls, including the page number of the receiver, are detected. When paging calls succeeding an initial paging call are received while the plurality of alerting devices are being driven to report the reception of the initial paging call, the receptions of the succeeding paging calls are stored. After the alert operation reporting the reception of the initial paging call is completed, only the one alerting device that consumes the least amount of power among the plurality of alerting devices, for example, an LED, is driven to report the receptions of the succeeding paging calls.
