  • Patent number: 9700858
Abstract: A continuous kneading device is provided with an upper trunk (1) to which a powder supply tube (3) through which quantified powder is supplied is connected and in which the powder is blended with a fluid, and a lower trunk (2) concentrically connected to the bottom of the upper trunk (1). The continuous kneading device continuously kneads the powder and the fluid by a first rotating kneading plate (10) built into the upper trunk (1) and a second rotating kneading plate (11) built into the lower trunk (2), wherein surfaces of the base metals of the first and second rotating kneading plates (10, 11) are covered with a coating material (50) for reducing friction when the powder and the fluid are kneaded together.

  • Patent number: 4691867
Abstract: A method of continuously mixing and kneading pulverulent bodies such as pulverized coal, oil coke to prepare a slurry thereof. Pulverulent bodies supplied continuously at a fixed rate from a supply tube are spattered and dispersed by a rotary mixing disk rotating in a mixing chamber covered with a base plate. A flow of a main liquid is directed as an annular overflow film downward along an overflow tube to the spattered and dispersed pulverulent bodies while a small amount of liquid such as additives is injected from a plurality of nozzles. The pulverulent bodies are uniformly humidified with a plurality of upper surface scrapers provided on the rotary mixing disk and disposed to cross the injection nozzle ports as the rotary mixing disk rotates and side face scrapers provided on the rotary mixing disk and turning along the inner wall of the mixing chamber.

  • Patent number: 4009232
Abstract: Discrete carbon microspheres having a particle diameter on the order of 1-20 .mu. are obtained by a process involving the steps of homogeneously mixing a pitch having a softening point of 70.degree. - 250.degree. C, a nitrobenzene-insoluble content of not more than 25% and an H/C ratio of 0.2- 1.0 with an aromatic solvent compatible with said pitch and dispersing the resultant mixture in an aqueous solution of a surface active agent with agitation and at a temperature to maintain the viscosity at 200-5000 cps to form microspheres of the pitch/solvent mixture. The dispersion is then cooled to solidify the microspheres. The microspheres 1-20 .mu. in diameter are then separated from the solution and from the finer particles and contacted an organic solvent which is incompatible with the pitch to extract the first-mentioned aromatic solvent from the microspheres.

  • Patent number: 3953345
Abstract: Spheres of activated carbon are obtained by adding to 100 parts by weight of pitch 10 to 50 parts by weight of an aromatic solvent compatible with said pitch and 2 to 50% by weight, based on the total weight of said pitch and said aromatic solvent, of a nitrogen-containing compound, melting and mixing them with one another, molding the resultant mixture in the form of spheres, removing the aromatic solvent by means of solvent extraction to convert said spheres into porous pitch spheres containing 2 to 60% by weight of nitrogen, infusibilizing the resultant micro-porous pitch spheres and thereafter activating the infusibilized pitch spheres.
