  • Patent number: 7444901
Abstract: A transmission case is provided with a housing enclosing a clutch and/or torque converter connected to an engine, and a shifting mechanism case enclosing a shifting mechanism in an oil-tight state that is connected to the housing. A focus for stress resulting from an impact load acting on the transmission case is formed as a frangible portion in the housing. Thus, damage to the transmission from an excessive load is limited to the housing, and by absorbing the impact from that damage, damage to the shifting mechanism case is prevented and oil leakage from the transmission case is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20080220928
Abstract: In an automatic transmission 1, a clutch C-1, a clutch C-3, and a clutch C-4 are disposed in an axial direction more toward the planetary gear DP side than the planetary gear unit PU. The friction plates 21 of the clutch C-1 and the friction plates 31 of the clutch C-3 are disposed on the outer peripheral side of the planetary gear DP, and at least a portion of the friction plates 41 of the clutch C-4 is disposed so as to coincide in an axial direction with the inner peripheral side of the friction plates 31 of the clutch C-3. Thereby, it is possible to reduce the length of the automatic transmission 1 in an axial direction by the amount that the friction plates 31 of the clutch C-3 and the friction plates 41 of the clutch C-4 coincide in an axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20080207386
Abstract: An automatic transmission that includes two clutches that are disposed at positions that overlap in an axial direction and are different in a radial direction. The two clutches each include: a clutch drum, a piston that structures a working oil chamber with a portion of the clutch drum used as a cylinder, a plurality of friction plates that engage the clutch drum, and a cancel oil chamber that is disposed on a back surface side of the piston and that cancels a centrifugal hydraulic pressure that acts on the working oil chamber. An inner spline is formed on the clutch drum of one clutch, among the two clutches, that is positioned on an outer diameter side. An outer spline is formed on the clutch drum of the other clutch, among the two clutches, that is positioned on an inner diameter side.

  • Publication number: 20070199789
Abstract: Lubricating oil supply holes are drilled into a first member that is fitted to a plurality of first annular plates by a spline. Of splines to which each lubricating oil supply hole corresponds, lubricating oil grooves provided in the plurality of first annular plates do not overlap the splines on at least one of the front and rear surfaces of the first annular plates, and therefore lubricating oil flowing out of the lubricating oil supply holes is dispersed in a circumferential direction and flows from the inner periphery to the outer periphery of the first annular plates, rather than gathering in each lubricating oil groove and flowing in an outer peripheral direction. As a result, a force generated by an axial lubricating oil flow, which acts in a direction for causing the second annular plates to contact friction materials on the first annular plates, is suppressed, leading to a reduction in drag torque.

  • Patent number: 6955629
Abstract: A shift control apparatus has first, second, third and fourth engagement elements, and a shift control processing unit engaging the first and the second engagement elements in order to realize a first shift speed, engaging the third and the fourth engagement in order to realize a second shift speed, and inhibiting an increase in torque capacity of one of the first and second engagement elements before starting of release of the second engagement element when shifting from the first to the second shift speed. During shifting from the first to the second shift speed, an increase in torque capacity of one of the first and second engagement elements is inhibited before starting of release of the second engagement element. This prevents a step-like shift shock from being caused by the slowed progression of shifting when release of the second engagement element is started.

  • Patent number: 6948606
Abstract: A transmission has an oil drain passage for connecting an oil reservoir with a mission case in a pump casing. The automatic transmission has also a retainer serving as a shielding member to shield between a discharge opening of the oil drain passage from at least part of a multistage transmission mechanism. This ensures that breather oil blow, which is caused by the spattering and stirring of operating oil by the high-speed drum member, is shielded from at least part of the transmission mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20050186402
Abstract: A card forming sheet according to the invention includes: an opaque printing sheet; a transparent film placed over the printing sheet so that the transparent film can be peeled away from the printing sheet and cannot be re-bonded to the printing sheet; a transparent adhesive; and a peeling sheet placed over the adhesive layer. The printing sheet is divided into a substantially rectangular address describing part, information describing part adjacent to one side of the address describing part, and concealing part adjacent to another side of the address describing part. The card forming sheet is folded along a boundary between the address describing part and the information describing part. The two sides are bonded together so that the printing sheet is placed to the outside. The card forming sheet is then folded along a boundary between the concealing part and the address describing part and bonded together, removably concealing the information.

  • Patent number: 6896500
Abstract: A bottom portion of an intake port is provided with a sloped bottom surface formed of a plane such that sloped bottom surface approaches the side surfaces of external teeth and internal teeth from an upstream side to a downstream side in rotational direction of two rotors. Fluid that flows in the intake port is regulated by the sloped bottom surface and smoothly guided into individual inter-teeth chambers that are expanding. Since the sloped bottom surface on the bottom portion of the intake port is formed of a plane without spiral or twisting, design and manufacturing of a gear pump is extremely easy.

  • Patent number: 6832976
Abstract: An automatic transmission achieves a desired shift through an initial stage shift in which a first engagement element is released and a third engagement element is engaged, and a final stage shift in which a second engagement element is released and a fourth engagement element is engaged. A control apparatus sets an estimated rotation acceleration for a transmission input shaft in accordance with an input torque and an input torque rotation acceleration speed, and controls the release of the second engagement element for moving to the final stage shift according to the estimated rotation acceleration. As a result, it is possible to prevent a shifting delay and/or degradation that occurs between the initial stage and the latter stage by continuous transmission of the input rotation (engine rotation) change when moving from the initial stage to the later stage.

  • Patent number: 6755767
Abstract: The invention has been made to eliminate a feeling of two-phase speed-change operations by causing a speed-change operation to proceed continuously when the speed-change operation is performed through two-phase control of engagement and release of four engagement elements. To accomplish this purpose, the invention provides a control apparatus for an automatic transmission wherein a predetermined speed-change operation is achieved through a pre-phase speed-change operation in which a first engagement element and a third engagement element are released and engaged respectively and through a post-phase speed-change operation in which a second engagement element and a fourth engagement element are released and engaged respectively. The control apparatus sets a target rotational acceleration of an input shaft of the transmission, and controls release of the second engagement element for a transition to the post-phase speed-change operation in accordance with the target rotational acceleration.
