Patent number: 7214099Abstract: An Integrated Circuit (IC) card connector includes a housing member, an ejection mechanism, and a plurality of braking pieces. The housing member includes an accommodation portion for selectively accommodating an IC card. When the ejection mechanism ejects the IC card from the accommodation portion, an end of at least one of the plurality of braking pieces contacts a movable part of the ejection mechanism. After contacting the movable part of the ejection mechanism, the end of the at least one braking piece retreats. Thus, the braking piece decelerates the ejection speed of the IC card and avoids the undesirable jumping-out of the IC card. Embodiments consistent with the invention may also include an improper insertion piece provided in the housing member.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2006Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Yamaichi Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kouji Kikuchi, Katsuhide Higuchi, Masaaki Ooya

Patent number: 6851959Abstract: A card connector for an IC card according to the present invention is provided with a preventive wall of an anti-floating mechanism in an ejector mechanism on a substrate, for suppressing the floating-up of the inserted IC card. Also, projections of an erroneous insert prevention mechanism for inhibiting the opposite insert of the card are provided with a sheet metal cover to prevent the IC card from floating up or being erroneously inserted, so that the IC card is not damaged and no short-circuit accident occurs. The card connector for an IC card is constructed into a hollow flat housing formed of a substrate and a metal sheet cover combined therewith, having the anti-floating mechanism for suppressing the floating-up of the IC card and the erroneous insert prevention mechanism for preventing the IC card from being inserted in such a manner that the rear end is directed forward.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2002Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignee: Yamaichi Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masaaki Ooya, Kiyoshi Abe

Patent number: 6839431Abstract: In a card connector having a push-push type eject mechanism, a cam lever is retained by a cam lever retaining member made from a cantilevered leaf spring, which in turn is retained by a leaf spring formed in a metal cover. The metal cover along with the housing forms a card accommodating portion. The cam lever is therefore doubly retained by the cam lever retaining member and the leaf spring and thus prevented against coming off. This arrangement also enhances a clicking feel of the eject mechanism during the insertion and ejection of the card.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2002Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Assignee: Yamaichi Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masaaki Ooya, Kazutaka Taguchi, Minoru Igarashi
