  • Patent number: 4641053
Abstract: In an ultrasonic liquid atomizer, an oscillator has a transistor and a resonant circuit a part of which is formed by a piezoelectric vibrator mounted in an energy transfer relationship with liquid in a chamber. The transistor and the resonant circuit receive a full-wave rectified supply voltage to generate ultrasonic energy in the vibrator in the presence of a bias voltage. A soft start circuit has a time constant circuit responsive to the bias voltage and a transistor responsive to an output of the time constant circuit which provides switching action in phase with the full-wave rectified supply voltage so that ultrasonic energy is generated in the form of a series of bursts having durations gradually increasing as a function of time during an initial brief interval from application of the bias voltage to the oscillator.

  • Patent number: 4583056
Abstract: In an apparatus having an insulative substrate, a power circuit is mounted on one surface of the substrate and connected to receive power from a mains supply for rectifying the AC energy of the supply and supplying the rectified energy to a pair of power lines. A high frequency source is mounted on the same surface as the power circuit and electrically connected to the power lines for converting the rectified energy into oscillation energy. A shield casing, which is electrically connected to one of the power lines which is lower in impedance than the other, encases the high frequency source. A conductor, printed on the other surface of the substrate, is substantially aligned with a portion of the shield casing which is positioned between the power circuit and the high frequency source, the conductor being electrically connected to the power line having the lower impedance to suppress radiation which would otherwise leak through a gap between the shield casing and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4321537
Abstract: In a Fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, as is known, a pulse modulated radio frequency is applied to a sample placed in a magnetic field, and a free induction decay signal resulting from the above application is Fourier transformed to obtain a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum. In such a spectrometer, a material having a predetermined resonance peak, for example, tetramethylsilane is used as a reference sample, and the center frequency of the pulse modulated radio frequency is successively varied while maintaining a constant magnetic field intensity. The position of peak of tetramethylsilane in frequency spectra thus obtained is varied with the change of the center frequency. By measuring successively the signal strength of the peak, there can be obtained a frequency characteristic of a receiving system employed in the spectrometer, which is used to obtain correction coefficients of the receiving system.
