    Abstract: A method for treating plastics, which is feasible on plastics containing films mixed therein, which is capable of performing dehydrochlorination simultaneously, and which provides processed plastics capable of being easily size-reduced. The method includes mixing the plastics with an organic solvent at a temperature not lower than 150.degree. C.; allowing the plastics to dissolve and/or swell; removing the organic solvent or both the organic solvent and low-boiling point components from the treated solution thereafter; and solidifying the resulting product. The method can produce solid fuels and reducing agents for ores.

    Abstract: A glass fiber reinforced polymer which excels in mechanical properties and is suitable for use in a large-sized structural members, formed from a dispersion liquid by dispersing reinforcement glass fibers and particulate thermoplastic resin in a surfactant-containing aqueous medium in which bubbles of air are dispersed, forming a sheet-like web on a porous support plate, and applying heat and pressure to form a sheet. The reinforcement glass fibers include a silane coupling agent while the matrix resin has functional groups bonded to the silane coupling agent. The concentration of said functional groups is higher in the regions adjacent the surfaces of said reinforcement glass fibers than in regions farther removed therefrom, and said concentration progressively decreases in the direction away from said reinforcement glass fibers.

    Abstract: An aromatic polyester consisting of 40-70 mol % of unit I derived from p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 1-8 mol % of unit II derived from m-hydroxybenzoic acid or isophthalic acid, 6-36 mol % of units III and IV derived from terephthalic acid and 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid, respectively, and 10-40 mol % of unit V derived from a symmetrical dihydroxy compound can be melt molded at a temperature of up to 330.degree. C. into an article having improved mechanical and thermal properties. An aromatic polyesteramide consisting of components I to V and unit VI having an anilino group is also provided. A filled composition is obtained by blending the polyester or polyesteramide with an inorganic filler. A magnetic resin composition is obtained by blending the polyester or polyesteramide with a magnetic powder.
