  • Patent number: 4946915
Abstract: A method for preparing a light-colored indene-coumarone resin is here disclosed which comprises the step of polymerizing an aromatic coal fraction raw material having a boiling point of 140.degree. to 240.degree. C. in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts type catalyst in a polymerization reactor in which the amount of oxygen is restricted to 15 ml or less with respect to 100 g of the aromatic coal fraction raw material oil at room temperature. As a raw material, a mixture is also used which is composed of the above-mentioned aromatic coal fraction and a phenol in an amount of 3 to 30 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the aromatic coal fraction.

  • Patent number: 4918143
Abstract: A polyphenylene ether resin composition comprising as the major components:(a) 100 parts by weight of polyphenylene ether resin, and(b) 1-30 parts by weight of hydrocarbon resin which has a softening point of 140.degree.-180.degree. C. and a ratio of weight-average molecular weight to number-average molecular weight M.sub.w /M.sub.n of 2.0 or less, and is prepared by polymerizing a raw material oil of hydrocarbon in which a total content of indene and methylidene is 80% by weight or more by the use of a Friedel-Crafts type catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4791170
Abstract: Rubber compositions are disclosed which essentially comprise ethylene/alpha-olefin rubbers and specified amounts of a selected class of aromatic hydrocarbon resins containing a phenolic hydroxyl group and having specified hydroxyl numbers and softening points. The composition is highly roll-retentive and sufficiently tacky in an unvulvcanized state with vulcanization speed and vulcanizate quality held at an optimum level.

  • Patent number: 4297450
Abstract: Hot melt type traffic paint compositions contain as binders partially ring-hydrogenated resins derived by hydrogenating from 20 to 70% of the aromatic rings of an aromatic hydrocarbon resin obtainable by polymerization in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst of fractions prepared so as to have a conjugated diolefin content of not more than 1.0 wt % and in a ratio of not more than 3.0% with respect to the total amount of polymerizable ingredients and a total content of indene and its alkyl derivatives of not more than 4.0 wt % and in a ratio of not more than 12.0% with respect to the total amount of polymerizable ingredients, said fractions obtained by distillation of cracked oil fractions which have boiling points in the range from 140.degree. to 220.degree. C. and are prepared by cracking of petroleum. These traffic paint compositions provide a favorable antiweathering property, heat resistance and flow characteristics.
