  • Patent number: 6697131
Abstract: The present invention provides an inexpensive stacked type reflection liquid crystal display, which can be obtained by stacking two liquid crystal display panels, and a method for producing the same, wherein a two-layered type reflection liquid crystal display is produced, having a blue display panel 10 and a yellow display panel 20 stacked therein, which is provided with segment electrodes 5a and 5a′, common electrodes 5b and 5b′, and glass substrates 1, 2, 1′ and 2′ in a state where two liquid crystal layers 3 and 3′, the selected and reflection wavelengths of which are mutually different from each other, are placed therebetween. The fluctuation characteristics of the reflectivity with respect to drive voltages of two liquid crystal layers 3 and 3′ are adjusted so that these characteristics are made coincident with each other.

  • Patent number: 5387978
Abstract: A flaw detection system that can detect not only bubbles, stones and knots but also flaws, such as cords and reams, that are subject to less optical changes in transmitted light is provided. A glass plate travelling in a manufacturing line is scanned with a beam spot in the direction orthogonally intersecting the manufacturing line. The light transmitted through the glass plate is received by an optical-fiber array arranged in a direction orthogonally intersecting the line. Optical fibers in the optical-fiber array are connected cyclically to a plurality of photomultipliers, which convert the light received by the optical fibers into electrical signals. Flaw signals are produced by extracting flaw information signals from these electrical signals in an analog processing section, and masking them in a masking section. Positional information indicating flaw patterns and positions is produced from these flaw signals.

  • Patent number: 5341306
Abstract: A blank layout method for planning a product layout having a good yield for plate-glass cutters cutting a plurality of rectangular product plates from a rectangular glass blank is disclosed. When a product plate is laid out on a residual blank space of a glass blank, a plurality of candidate layout plans are prepared, and the same processing is recursively repeated for residual blank spaces in each of the candidate layout plans. The final yields of the candidate layout plans when no more products can be laid out are compared to select a candidate layout plan having the highest yield.

  • Patent number: 5328495
Abstract: The width of glass ribbon at the hot end of a float bath is controlled to a constant value by raising and lowering a tweel for adjusting the flow of molten glass blank from a smelting furnace to the float bath. The controlled value of the tweel is obtained from predetermined control variables through fuzzy inference. This method is carried out in a float-bath ribbon-width control system using a fuzzy inference means that obtains the controlled value of the tweel from predetermined control variables through fuzzy inference.

  • Patent number: 4696713
Abstract: A method and apparatus for pressing curved laminated glass having an adhesion interlayer between curved sheets of plate glass by passing the curved laminated glass through a pair of press rolls. A level of a contact position between said pair of press rolls and an inclination angle of a line connecting axes of said pair of press rolls with respect to a curved surface of the laminated glass are controlled to control a posture of said pair of press rolls upon movement of the laminated glass so as to correspond to controlled rotation of said pair of press rolls. A line of action of a press pressure is directed along a direction substantially normal to the curved surface of the laminated glass, and the location of application of the press pressure is level-shifted along the curved surface of the laminated glass. The posture of the press rolls is controlled in accordance with prestored data sampled along the curved surface of the laminated glass.

  • Patent number: 4558480
Abstract: A method and apparatus of cleaning with a roll brush a three-dimensional surface of a curved glass sheet. Levels at both ends of a rotating shaft of the roll brush are independently controlled and an inclination angle of a support frame of the roll brush about the rotating shaft of said roll brush is controlled when the roll brush is moved along the three-dimensional surface. The posture of the roll brush is controlled in such a manner that the rotating shaft of the roll brush becomes substantially parallel to the three-dimensional surface and that a roll brush extended opening of the support frame surrounding said roll brush is directed in a direction substantially normal to the three-dimensional surface. The posture control of the roll brush is carried out in accordance with prestored data sampled along the curved surface of the glass sheet.
