Abstract: There is disclosed a herbicidal composition containing (a) 2-?4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-(n-pentyloxycarbonylmethoxy)phenyl!-4,5,6,7-tetrahy dro-2H-isoindole-1,3-dione and (b) at least one selected from the group consisting of N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine, (2-amino-4-methylphosphinobutyryl)alanylalanine, DL-homoalanin-4-yl(methyl)phosphinic acid and salts thereof. Also disclosed is a method for controlling undesired weeds by application of the herbicidal composition.

Abstract: There are disclosed novel pyrimidone derivatives of the formula I: ##STR1## wherein X is hydrogen, chlorine, methyl or ethyl, R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl, and Q is ##STR2## A is fluorine, chlorine or bromine; and R.sup.1 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxyalkyl or haloalkyl.Also disclosed are a herbicidal composition containing a herbicidally effective amount of the compound (I) as an active ingredient and a method for exterminating undesired weeds by applying a herbicidally effective amount of the compound (I) to an area where the undesired weeds grow or will grow.

Abstract: There are disclosed novel benzofuran derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## Also disclosed are a herbicidal composition containing the above benzofuran derivative as an active ingredient and a method for exterminating undesired weeds by the application of a herbicidally effective amount of the above benzofuran derivative to an area where the undesired weeds grow or will grow.

Abstract: There is disclosed a 1-phenyl-4 trifluoromethyl-uracil derivative of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl, and R.sup.2 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl optionally substituted with C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl. Also disclosed are a herbicidal composition containing this derivative as an active ingredient and a method for exterminating undesired weeds by application of this herbicidal composition.

Abstract: A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl, lower alkoxy(lower)alkyl, halo(lower)alkyl or halo(lower) alkenyl, X is chlorine or bromine, and Y is methyl optionally substituted with halogen, which is useful as an active ingredient of herbicides.

Abstract: There are disclosed novel arylindazole derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## and agrochemically acceptable salts thereof. Also disclosed are a herbicidal composition including the above arylindazole derivative as an active ingredient and a method for exterminating undesired weeds by the application of a herbicidally effective amount of the above arylindazole derivative to an area where the undesired weeds grow or will grow.
