  • Patent number: 6956637
Abstract: A liquid crystal display comprises a plurality of components including a panel unit that includes a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel with a display surface, a light conductive plate, and a lamp reflector. A first housing part or housing front has an opening exposing the display surface of the LCD panel. A second housing part or housing rear is complementary to the first housing part. The housing front has at least one horizontal retainer arranged to retain at least one of the components at a desired position within a hypothetical horizontal plane parallel to the display surface of the LCD panel, and a vertical retainer arranged to retain the components together. The housing rear has a load applying portion arranged to load the vertical retainer into firm engagement with the adjacent one of the components when the housing rear and the housing front are coupled to each other.

  • Patent number: 6909053
Abstract: In connecting a connecting substrate 4 to a flexible substrate 5 connected to a terminal portion of one of substrates constituting a liquid crystal display panel through an anisotropic conductive film (ACF) 20, a bonding assist member 17 formed of the same material as that of an internal wiring or a connecting terminal of the connecting substrate and having substantially the same height as that of the connecting terminal is provided between adjacent terminal groups each including a plurality of connecting terminals 4b in a terminal forming region of a non-coating portion 14 in the vicinity of the connecting substrate 4, to absorb a difference in height between the terminal groups and the non-coating portion by the bonding assist member 17 to thereby make the ACF in an intimate contact with the terminal groups as well as the exposed regions uniformly throughout thereof during a temporary press-bonding step of the ACF and prevent a peeling-off and/or breakage of the ACF between the terminal groups and improve t

  • Patent number: 5801487
Abstract: A fluorescent display panel has a luminescent structure on an insulating substrate, a grid structure over the luminescent structure and filaments over the grid structure in an inner space defined by a case member bonded to the insulating substrate by means of frit, and the frit is pushed out from the boundaries between the case member and the insulating substrate; photo-shield plates are provided between the luminescent structure and the boundaries, and are arranged in such a manner as to be in parallel to the boundaries so as to block light component radiated from the luminescent structure to the boundaries.

  • Patent number: 5235245
Abstract: A metallic frame for use in a fluorescent display panel having a CIG (chip in glass) structure and containing a driver IC chip in a vacuum chamber. The metallic frame includes a box-type metallic shield covering the IC chip, metallic external leads, and a deformable part coupled between the box-type metallic shield and the metallic external leads. The deformable part deforms more easily than the metallic shield and the leads upon receiving a tensile force. The deformable part is preferably formed at a bent section of the metallic shield or near a shield side end of the metallic external leads. The deformable part preferably consists of two bent or curved elements which are positioned to form a circle, ellipse, or polygon.
