  • Patent number: 7123913
Abstract: A cellular telephone (100) that searches for a destination base station in accordance with a handoff instruction receives a soft handoff instruction or a hard handoff that is able to specify a first search window size. When the hard handoff instruction is received, a search block (70) is controlled so that a window control block (83) searches for pilot signals from neighboring base stations using a search window having a size larger than one of the first search window size and a third search window size that is used when the soft handoff instruction is received.

  • Patent number: 6990331
Abstract: With a mobile terminal which is adapted to receive a message transmitted by radio through the telephone network and to store the message in the nonvolatile member and to show the message on a display, when energized, checksum for the message stored in the nonvolatile memory is calculated to store the result in a RAM. When a message is thereafter received, checksum for the received message is compared with a plurality of checksums stored in the RAM, respectively. The subject to be compared is the only stored message having the same checksum as that for the received message, and the messages are compared. When the messages are same, the received message is stored in the nonvolatile memory by overwrite. As a result, a check for a message duplicate can be performed within a shorter period of time.

  • Patent number: 6898443
Abstract: While the backlight is lit, if the control unit detects key input concerning a request instruction from a user by the request instruction signal from the operation unit, the control unit outputs the lights-out instruction signal to the display lighting unit to turn off the backlight, and outputs the detected request instruction signal to the communication unit. The communication unit transmits the request instruction signal to the server via the base station. If the server responses the request instruction signal and distributes the contents information to the communication unit via the base station, and the communication unit outputs the contents information within the waiting time, the control unit reproduces the contents information, outputs the reproduced contents information to the display unit to display the contents information on the display panel in the display unit, and outputs the light-up instruction signal to the display lighting unit to turn on the backlight.

  • Patent number: 6856609
Abstract: If the strength of the signal transmitted from a remaining base station is larger than that from the active base station, the search control unit 103 shifts to the confirmation mode, where the remaining base station is designated as a confirmation target remaining base station. Then, if the strength of the signal transmitted from the confirmation target remaining base station is larger than that from the active base station, a counter is incremented. If the counter value becomes a predetermined value R, a hand-off is performed to the remaining base station. In case that the strength of the signal transmitted from the confirmation target remaining base station becomes not larger than that from the active base station, the confirmation mode is terminated at that point to return to the normal mode.

Abstract: With a mobile terminal which is adapted to receive a message transmitted by radio through the telephone network and to store the message in the nonvolatile memory 9 and to show the message on a display 11, when energized, checksum for the message stored in the nonvolatile memory 9 is calculated to store the result in a RAM 8. • Patent number: 5808650
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an LED array head to which a vibration applying unit driven by a driver is attached. The LED array head is shifted by a predetermined amount in a direction at an angle .theta. relative to the axis of a photosensitive drum. LEDs are driven to emit the light in accordance with video data before and after the shift, and an electrostatic latent image according to the video data is formed on the photosensitive drum. Since the LED array head is shifted in a diagonal direction relative to the axis of the photosensitive drum, it is possible to form high-resolution dot lines in the axial direction even if the photosensitive drum is rotated at a constant speed.
