  • Patent number: 8699187
Abstract: A manufacturing method for a head-stack assembly. The method includes preparing a head-stack assembly. The method further includes placing a connection pad forming surface of a connector tab formed on an end of the trace so as to be positioned opposite to an edge of a circuit board; sliding an elastic component along a backside of the connection pad forming surface; and, stopping the elastic component on the backside and pressing the backside with the elastic component so as to press the connection pad forming surface against the edge. In addition, the method includes metal-joining the connector tab and a connection pad of the circuit board by applying heat to a connection pad of the connector tab and the connection pad on the circuit board while pressing the connection pad forming surface against the edge with the elastic component; and, removing the elastic component after the metal-joining.

  • Patent number: 7652837
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to erasing data recorded on a magnetic disk with increased certainty by using an external magnetic field. One embodiment is directed to a method for erasing data recorded on a magnetic disk, which is housed in a magnetic disk drive, by using an external erasure magnetic field generated by an external erasure magnetic field generator. The method comprises the steps of: moving a first magnetic disk drive within an external erasure magnetic field in a moving state appropriate for the type of the first magnetic disk drive, and erasing data recorded on a magnetic disk in the first magnetic disk drive; and moving a second magnetic disk drive, which differs in type from the first magnetic disk drive, within an external erasure magnetic field in a moving state that differs from the moving state of the first magnetic disk drive, and erasing data recorded on a magnetic disk in the second magnetic disk drive.

  • Patent number: 7646579
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention prevent a spindle motor from stopping rotation while data on a magnetic disk is being erased by using a permanent magnet. In one embodiment, data in the whole area of the magnetic disk is erased as a consequence of the magnetic disk rotating in the magnetic field of the permanent magnet located so as to face a part of the magnetic disk. A back yoke is located so as to face a base. The back yoke gives a magnetic force to the spindle motor in the opposite direction of the magnetic force of the erasing permanent magnet so that the fluid dynamic bearing spindle motor can retain the rotation as required without stopping rotation.

  • Patent number: 6135100
Abstract: A number of embodiments of feedback control systems for two-cycle, internal combustion engine management systems. Each embodiment employs an exhaust system sensor which senses the exhaust gases by drawing exhaust gases from the exhaust of the engine. In some instances this is done directly from the cylinder and in others it is done in the exhaust system. In each embodiment, the sensor is provided in an accumulator chamber so as to provide an accurate signal of instantaneous engine running conditions. The use of the accumulator chamber insures that the combustible gases will not be diluted with fresh air charge, but will be able to purge from cycle to cycle so as to provide cycle-by-cycle information. Various arrangements are provided for protecting the sensor element including serpentine flow paths, shields, the direction in which the exhaust gases are delivered, lubricant catalysts, conduit shape, sensor cooling and combinations of these features.
