  • Patent number: 4488160
Abstract: An electrostatic reproducing apparatus comprising a charged particle modulating electrode unit, wherein the common electrode and the control electrode are divided into a plurality of the groups, respectively, in the direction in which the particle passing apertures are arranged. Each of thus divided common electrode groups is disposed in a staggered manner with respect to the corresponding control electrode groups, and the same electric potential is applied to two adjacent common electrode groups opposed to that control electrode group through which a charged particle is to be modulated. The control electrode groups are disposed in such a manner that a boundary between two adjacent common electrode groups is aligned with the center line of the opposed control electrode group. At least one of the surfaces of said charged particle modulating electrode unit is provided with a solid state scanning system of wiring formed integrally therewith.

Abstract: An electrostatic recording apparatus comprising an ion modulator, a driving circuit for transforming a first image signal into a second image signal and for applying said second image signal to the ion modulator, a member for forming electrostatic latent image, and a photon coupled isolator. A voltage of the second image signal is higher than a voltage of the first image signal. The first image signal is supplied to the driving circuit through the photon coupled isolator. The ion modulator is a multilayered ion modulator comprising a layer of insulating material, a continuous layer of conductive material and a segmented layer of conductive material on the other side of said insulating layer. Each segment of the segmented conductive layer is insulatively isolated from each other segment. The multilayered ion modulator has at least one of row of apertures formed therethrough. A segment of the segmented conduction layer is formed around each aperture.

  • Patent number: 4435066
Abstract: An electrostatic reproducing apparatus, in which the ion flow passing through an ion modulating electrode and reaching a reproducing member is increased by strengthening the electric field between the electrode of the ion modulating electrode and the reproducing member. Ion transmissive apertures formed in the ion modulating electrode is made to have a larger diameter at its ion outlet than at its ion inlet so that the ion transmission factor may be improved. Condenser electric field generating means such as an electrode for generating an electric field to converge the ion flow toward the ion transmissive aperture of the ion modulating electrode is mounted on the common electrode of the ion modulating electrode at its inlet so that the ion flow of the ion generator using the corona wire may be highly dense.

  • Patent number: 4426654
Abstract: An ion modulating electrode to form an electrostatic image on the image recording member by modulating the ion flow includes a multi-layer structure consisting of a first conductive layer and a first dielectric layer, a second conductive layer, and a second dielectric layer and a third conductive layer, stacked together in that order to form a multi-layer structure, through-apertures formed in this multi-layer structure, and a dielectric or semiconductive thin film coated on the first conductive layer or third conductive layer. A high-frequency voltage is applied between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer to produce ions in these apertures. A voltage is applied to the third conductive layer for enhancing the passage through the apertures of ions generated in these apertures by high frequency voltage. The thin film covers a part of the inside of the apertures.
